Hello. Just noticed your comment on Christianity in Mauritius. I am a Mauritian Christian and I can trace my ancestors back 300 years. Clearly your comment has offended me and i would like you to explain why you think that Christianity is irrelevant. Please explain your logic??

The faster way to undo vandalism, as requested: In the history, find the most recent unvandalized version of the article, and click on the bluelink to that version. While you're viewing the unvandalized version, click on 'edit this article,' and then save. You'll save that earlier version, and all later edits will go away. Be careful that you don't accidentally remove useful edits when you do this.  :) -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:41, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Undo also works on multiple edits: go to history, generate a diff that includes all the edits you want to revert and click undo. This second solution is better if there are useful edits after the ones you want to revert. JRSP (talk) 12:29, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Typo redirect Punk-funk (song)[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Punk-funk (song), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Punk-funk (song) is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Punk-funk (song), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Your edit to Anarchism[edit]

Yo, thank you for trying to improve the Anarchism article. Unfortunately, the statement you removed was verified accurate information sourced to the BBC. If you think the statement is incorrect or misleading, you need to find a reliable source that supports your point of view, as Wikipedia does not tolerate original research. RE Low German[edit]

I reverted your edits because they constitute vandalism. They were deleting a large part of an article. That part had been added, edited, and changed over time as to what it was when you deleted it. If it were incorrect, it would have been deleted. Undeath (talk) 20:37, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. It had been there for darn near a year and edits around it prove that no one had a problem with it. The table was considered useful. I also had looked at your talk page before reverting it. I noticed that you have been warned before and I thought that it was the same type of instance. Undeath (talk) 21:12, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There was no reason to remove it. It's a chart that describes Low German. That's that. Undeath (talk) 22:36, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Contributing to an article and knowing about the article is not relevant. I saw that you took off a large chart because you didn't think it fit. For a large deletion, you must first put that on the talk page of the article and let others decide too. Undeath (talk) 22:41, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've scanned the history Botocudo for still active editors which contributed there. I'm more than a bit dissatisfied with ethnology articles which are mostly based on the 1911 Britannica. And that article hasn't seen much improvement since the article start which was neary 1:1 the old Britannica article.

I voiced my concerns at WikiProject_Anthropology#Outdated_article, perhaps you have an idea how to proceed.

--Pjacobi (talk) 16:58, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for giving the article another look. I didn't want to press you to bring it singlehandedly to Featured Article quality, mostly looking for second opinion. Do you have general idea what to do with such articles? I interpret your cleanup edits that you hope, the wiki principle will in the succeed in improving it. I'm always tempted to solve such problems with deletion (on German Wikipedia we will most likely delete the translation and re-start with stub). As a middle ground I've now added an "outdated" warning after finally having it found. --Pjacobi (talk) 20:17, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of War Before Civilization[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article War Before Civilization, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Cybercobra (talk) 10:04, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of languages by number of native speakers[edit]

Re: Please look at the last part of the 2-10 million list. Given the way the last column shows signs of being corrupted (# 66 missing and something definately wrong near # 99), combined with the fact that such a list is bound to be controversial, and combined with the edit history which looks like a lot of fly-by-editors/vandals changing a few numbers here and there, my impression as a casual reader is that it seems likely that much more of the entire list may be corrupted as well. The article text states that the source of the entire list is SIL (which seems like a logical idea. It is always better to have one source - with all the flaws and errors it may contain - than combining 20 different lists and then arguing for months about which list has the best figure for language X). However, I felt more inclined to simply go to SIL's webpage and find the untampered list, rather than taking guesses at which parts of Wikipedia's list that may contain SIL's data and which that may not. Had the edit summary field been longer, I would have written that the entire list had to be crosschecked with SIL's original, adjusted to that effect where necessary and then locked down to avoid the casual fly-by vandals. North-South divide(s)[edit]

I think a disamb page is preferable to a straight redirect, which would inevitably be contentious. One problem is that the North-South divide (England) page still contains a few worthwhile refs to Scotland, as well as to Wales - should there be a page on North-South divide (Great Britain), or should those refs just be surgically removed, or transplanted into North Britain, which also contains some refs to the modern N-S divide? And another problem is that North-South divide in the United Kingdom raises the question of whether there should be refs to N-S divides in Ireland (part of which is part of the UK). Difficult! Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:42, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In my view it might be best to go back to the previous text here, and then propose to rename the article as North-South divide (Great Britain). Although most of the article relates to England, there are refs in it to Scotland and Wales. But of course there is a lot of politics and national feeling at the bottom of all of this. Islamophobia, acts of[edit]

As the section covers Islamophobia acts I'm suggesting that opinions, opinion polling, or press releases should not be there. The Baden-Württemberg test, as I understand it (and based on my limited German) covers anyone from an OIC country, Muslim or not.

I'm concerned that real examples of Islamophobia are getting hidden and as such are degraded in importance.

Yes the Indies article is a mess and rather in need of cleanup - perspectives of 'asia', 'indies', and regional issues seeem to attract some quite weird debates- and my comment was probably unnecessary there - the proof is in the reading the indies article and what you might make of it! As for your edit summary http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Economic_history_of_India&action=historysubmit&diff=332629196&oldid=332626680 - are you really sure you know what wikipedia is about? The thing is I am not an admin - I think some might take umbrage - be very careful if you think you might slip like that - expect the worst for crazy vandalisms and you will not be suprised when some smart cookie tells you delhi is in mongolia - you can just revert and correct without expressing your real thoughts about the matter :) SatuSuro 07:07, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User warning templates[edit]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Talk:Christianity: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you.
-Garrett W. { } 08:34, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for showing me these templates. I hope I used them correctly in my recent edit to User talk:99.96.105.233. What I am not sure about though is what happens when all the templates have been given? Would you then need to talk an administrator? Or are you supposed to create a RFC or something like that? Munci (talk) 09:06, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good question. When you've given a user their last warning, the next time something happens, you should take it to the ANI page. That's where you post incidents that administrators need to handle.

redirection[edit]

Hello Wiki-fellow,

wouldn't it take a bit longer, when a word redirects to the actual article? Adherent of the Enlightenment 10.0 (talk) 09:54, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I think it does take a bit longer when it is a redirect but, as far as I can tell, the difference in time is not very significant. Anyone who has a slow computer (the computers I use are a bit slow), will barely notice anything compared to just getting to any webpage. Munci (talk) 17:29, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fur[edit]

Hi - I looked at the change in Fur article. People object to the use of certain traps because they say they are cruel. That's not a controversy about clothing, per se, but about animal cruelty whether or not the trapped animals are used for clothing. Similarly there are objections to the unintended animals caught for the fur industry, which has nothing to do with clothing, but may be a question of endangered species. While you're right that clothing is the primary use of fur, the controversy is broader than that so putting it under clothing would require other controversy sections as appropriate. Bob98133 (talk) 01:31, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that it might be hard to get your point across in this article without appearing to be POV, but go ahead and try, or discuss it further on the Fur:talk page. Bob98133 (talk) 15:46, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is New Tribal Revolution. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New Tribal Revolution (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:08, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On your removal of the red link at the University of Calcutta template[edit]

Sourcing[edit]

Please see WP:RS. Student term papers are not reliable sources. (Sugar Bear (talk) 20:01, 15 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

  • As stated previously, student papers are not reliable sources. Books on music festivals are not good sources for discussing musical terminology. Pieces written by writers who are not music experts are not good sources. Nu metal is an umbrella term, not a subgenre of heavy metal. Your edits added several non-neutral claims that don't add up with the descriptions of the bands associated with the genre, most of which are influenced by either hardcore punk or industrial rock. Don't edit the text to make it look like every band called "nu metal" uses rapped vocals, funk influence, or DJ instrumentation, when this is not what the sources say. (Sugar Bear (talk) 20:13, 16 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Nu metal dispute[edit]

Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that I posted a couple of notices at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music genres and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Metal asking for more input on the reliable sources issue. Hopefully more input will help settle this. Torchiest talk/contribs 16:37, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think the main problem here is the slant of your text. Let's go over a few things and see if we can work them out before you add them back to the article:
    • Lead: Nu metal is a fusion genre, not a subgenre. The most common influence of most of the bands listed at List of nu metal bands tend to be hardcore punk or industrial rock, not the extra genres you added.
    • "Vocals in nu metal are generally aggressive" - vague phrasing. A lot of punk and metal bands use aggressive vocalization. In what way does this differentiate nu metal from "old metal"?
    • "and influenced by rapping." - Many bands associated with this term do not use rap-influenced vocals. This is part of the slant that I refer to.
    • "Many nu metal bands feature a DJ for additional rhythmic instrumentation (such as music sampling, scratching and electronic backgrounds)." - You changed this from a previous revision which was more neutral and generalized, which said "some", not "many".
    • "Nu metal music is mostly syncopated and based on riffs. Its lack of guitar solos and virtuousity contrasts it with other metal subgenres. Another way in which nu metal is contrasted with other metal subgenres is its emphasis on rhythm." - More slant. Not generalized in any way. The last bit is sourced to a writer who is not an expert in music, so the slant is furthered.
  • I'd also like to note that you deleted sourced material when you reverted to your preferred version - it's very notable that previously established artists would release albums incorporating elements of a style. Material like this would give readers a wider viewpoint of the subject being discussed. All I want you to do is to take a careful look at the material you add, and watch for things like slant. (Sugar Bear (talk) 22:25, 20 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]
  • Please discuss changes and work on researching the subject matter before making edits to the article. (Sugar Bear (talk) 18:49, 22 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

A tag has been placed on Ground Zero (American band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ttonyb (talk) 01:23, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE: My list[edit]

I haven't actually taken a proper look at the list in a while; to be honest, nowadays I'm a bit embarassed by it. I used to believe that Rastafarianism (definitely "R" instead of "P") was initially created as a parody religion, but I hadn't actually done any research on it, and due to lack of evidence it eventually slipped my mind (in fact, I hadn't thought about it for a long time until you mentioned it). Since it isn't a view I hold anymore, do you think I should edit the list? I rarely ever touch it because I find it a bit obnoxious to look at. Never mind, I just edited it. Took away some of the things that I now disagree with, and added more info on some of the other reasons. --LordNecronus (talk) 14:36, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Persecution of Christians[edit]

Hi Munci, you have removed even brief mentions of persecution of Christians in articles such as Oriental Orthodoxy in India (formerly Eastern Orthodoxy in India) and Religion in Uzbekistan. Persecution of Christans is a topic, which obviously is important for such topics. Why did you remove this topic from those articles then? Ancient[edit]

Actually, "ancient" is often used for people and things that are still extant and go back a ways. In this case, substituting something specific for the generic "ancient" is good... assuming readers know that Dharmic is an ancient religion, as are Judaism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Confucionism, etc. The giveaway is saying "is an ancient religion" vs. "was an ancient religion". ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 04:25, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Austronesian languages[edit]

Austronesian languages does not belong in a category for German loanwords. It is an inappropriate addition since the article isn't about German loanwords, nor does it contain any German loanwords. Categories for are useful information to readers. Placing Austronesian in that category is not useful since a reader will search in vain for any reference to German. Proper names are not considered to be loanwords in a linguistic context. Otherwise, "Berlin", "Hamburg", "Leipzig", etc. would all have to be considered loanwords. Please do not add the category to Austronesian languages or to any other articles that are proper names. --Taivo (talk) 13:34, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article List of nationalist conflicts and organizations has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a real disambiguation page; artificial compound title.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Regarding the "accusations of xenophobia" section in this article, I think this version ought to be a comromise.[2] It mentions the accusations and the accusers, while also gives the other side of the story, ie. the party's rebuttal and the defence of the party by other Finnish politicians of competing parties. The fact that the party has been compared with other nationalist parties is already mentioned in the lead to the article, so repetition isn't necessary. The article "Resurgence of racism in Europe 2008-2011", to which your version had a red link, has been deleted from Wikipedia, as it was not found to correspond to Wikipedia's principles.[3] The article was found biased and its writer used synthesis and original research. The same applies to the sources used on that section referencing to this "resurgence": it is synthesis and biased. And anyway it should be obvious that we should not red link to deleted articles or remove their content to other articles. There is no need for a separate section: you had put it under 'policies' and accusations of others are certainly not policies. Accusations of xenophobia are related to immigration stances, so the logical place is under 'immigration'. To sum up: I think the version in the first link is a compromise. --89.27.103.116 (talk) 21:32, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Language-population update project[edit]

Hi. The 18th edition of Ethnologue just came out, and if we divide up our language articles among us, it won't take long to update them. I would appreciate it if you could help out, even if it's just a few articles (5,000 articles is a lot for just me), but I won't be insulted if you delete this request.

A largely complete list of articles to be updated is at Category:Language articles citing Ethnologue 17. The priority articles are in Category:Language articles with old Ethnologue 17 speaker data. These are the 10% that have population figures at least 25 years old.

Probably 90% of the time, Ethnologue has not changed their figures between the 17th and 18th editions, so all we need to do is change "e17" to "e18" in the reference (ref) field of the language info box. That will change the citation for the artcle to the current edition. Please put the data in the proper fields, or the info box will flag it as needing editorial review. The other relevant fields are "speakers" (the number of native speakers in all countries), "date" (the date of the reference or census that Ethnologue uses, not the date of Ethnologue!), and sometimes "speakers2". Our convention has been to enter e.g. "1990 census" when a census is used, as other data can be much older than the publication date. Sometimes a citation elsewhere in the article depends on the e17 entry, in which case you will need to change "name=e17" to "name=e18" in the reference tag (assuming the 18th edition still supports the cited claim).

Remember, we want the *total* number of native speakers, which is often not the first figure given by Ethnologue. Sometimes the data is too incompatible to add together (e.g. a figure from the 1950s for one country, and a figure from 2006 for another), in which case it should be presented that way. That's one use for the "speakers2" field. If you're not sure, just ask, or skip that article.

Data should not be displayed with more than two, or at most three, significant figures. Sometimes it should be rounded off to just one significant figure, e.g. when some of the component data used by Ethnologue has been approximated with one figure (200,000, 3 million, etc.) and the other data has greater precision. For example, a figure of 200,000 for one country and 4,230 for another is really just 200,000 in total, as the 4,230 is within the margin of rounding off in the 200,000. If you want to retain the spurious precision of the number in Ethnologue, you might want to use the {{sigfig}} template. (First parameter in this template is for the data, second is for the number of figures to round it off to.)

Dates will often need to be a range of all the country data in the Ethnologue article. When entering the date range, I often ignore dates from countries that have only a few percent of the population, as often 10% or so of the population isn't even separately listed by Ethnologue and so is undated anyway.

If Ethnologue does not provide a date for the bulk of the population, just enter "no date" in the date field. But if the population figure is undated, and hasn't changed between the 17th & 18th editions of Ethnologue, please leave the ref field set to "e17", and maybe add a comment to keep it so that other editors don't change it. In cases like this, the edition of Ethnologue that the data first appeared in may be our only indication of how old it is. We still cite the 14th edition in a couple dozen articles, so our readers can see that the data is getting old.

The articles in the categories linked above are over 90% of the job. There are probably also articles that do not currently cite Ethnologue, but which we might want to update with the 18th edition. I'll need to generate another category to capture those, probably after most of the Ethnologue 17 citations are taken care of.

Jump in at the WP:LANG talk page if you have any comments or concerns. Thanks for any help you can give!

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:34, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I've revamped the contest page into this, based on the new British model. Long term goal, but I've added entries since the beginning of July to give it some initial life. Please add anything you've done then this then too! I hope it proves productive long term. The contests are still planned, but will be more tools towards increasing bulk output in overall goal. It's a permanent goal now, and open! I would be grateful if you could keep a record of all your articles you do there, as I really think seeing the combined efforts will encourage others to create more content too! Please spread the word to the others, cheers!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:15, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing, whether it's a river in Malawi, a Nigerian footballer, or a South African civil rights activist, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. For those of you who signed up to the North African contest, that will hopefully be held in the new year. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:11, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October![edit]

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)

Disambiguation link notification for November 23[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tigray People's Liberation Front, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tigray. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Important information[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.  Bishonen | tålk 09:24, 10 October 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Discretionary sanctions alert - gender and sexuality[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in gender-related disputes or controversies or in people associated with them.

Just letting you know about the stricter rules for gender and sexuality related topics on Wikipedia. Don't worry, it's just a standard notice that has to be given and you've not done anything wrong. Sideswipe9th (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 19:37, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Importance of religion by country has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article is sourced from Gallup polling in 2008/2009 and we have no other data on the importance of religion (as opposed to eg whether or not people are religious or which religions are followed). The article is subject to continual attempts by editors to change figures to show that religion is far more important in whatever countries. These attempts are all the harder to deal with as the the full poll results of our single source are no longer available. It's time to admit that that 2008/2009 polling is no longer a reliable source for an entire article on the current importance of religion.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
