Two points[edit]
While I support this proposal broadly I'd make two points:
- While I note that this isn't about fixing RFA I think bundling a new class of editor that can *only*, move, protect, delete shouldn't have to go through the ringer about the block button for these userrights. Basically I'd suggest having an RFM and if the moderator wants to become an admin then they go through RFA. Immediately this causes problems for the co-equals thing.
- Co-equals: Yes that's theoretically fine except they don't block, take part in AE threads etc. A group with such limited tool access can't & don't make the same choices, and thus aren't held to the same standards. I see the problem with the perception of hierarchy except we don't have one when it comes to CheckUser or Oversight. Checkusers don't have to be admins, it's a totally separate function. I would suggest being a Mod should be in that category.
The reason I make these points is because RFA is broken and this wont fix it. Moreover, being an admin carries the higher burden of blocking/unblocking/arbcom enforcement and requires a different type of discretion. My suggestion is simply this:
Moderators should go through a Request for Moderatorship and if they want to become admins go through RFA, just like CheckUsers.--Cailil talk 16:09, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
"moodbar-admin"[edit]
I would like to ask why moderators would not have access to moodbar-admin, specially since there have been several requests for a user right to be made that enables a user to hide unhelpful feedback.
