Bot suggestion

Maybe you could tell your bot that when the term being replaced is something like [expletive] or [censored], words that would normally be vandalism are not necessarily so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.216.61 (talk) 15:52, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Question

Quote: 21:10, 5 March 2007 Voice of All (Talk | contribs) deleted "Category:Founding members of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering" ‎ (per User:Betacommand/Datadump/To be Deleted)

Why was the category deleted without discussion? Thank you for your attention. Dr.K. (talk) 08:57, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I saw this diff and I thought the bot suggested the dumping without discussion. Now I understand that the diff shows the bot removing an already obsolete category with a year's delay. I apologise. --Dr.K. (talk) 13:24, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Mistaken Vandalism

I deleted a whole section in the Planet Killer article, I know thats abit extreme, but the whole article is someones original research on how to theoretically destroy a planet in his opinion and some explaining of how plots work. Or horrible, doesn't belong in Wikipedia. Anyways, your bot repeatedly considered it to be possible vandalism, so do whatever so the garbage can be, and hopefully the article can be improved. Thanks.

Incorrect interpretation

Hi, it says that my edit was reverted because i was adding text for test purposes, which isn't true. While my edit was infact incorrect (and i've reverted it myself after that), but it's not a test edit in any sense of the word. 77.236.236.6 (talk) 07:27, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

umm... yes? I just saw it on tv in full this time. Pretty good movie. People that call themselves experts really aren't that smart. I don't much care what a Ebert, Roeper, and formerly Siskel, and Rotten Tomatoes think. ~ GoldenGoose100 (talk) 08:10, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

quadruple precision

The given examples for MAX and 1/3 are wrong (the given values in the old text are 2*MAX and 2/3), but were resetted by the bot. This can be easily proved (as you can Java and have hopefully 1.5): The bit value on the given exponent is java.math.BigDecimal("2").pow(exp). The exponent is the positive integer of the 15 bits following the sign bit minus 16383 (0x3fff).

1 is 2^0 is 0x3fff00000.... (correct) -2 is 2^1 is 0xc00000000.... (correct)

0x7ffe = 32766-16383 = 16383

2^16383 = 5.948 * 10^4931 As the other bits are filled too, it nearly doubles its value, so we get 2^16384 which is 1.19e4932

Another user has already pointed out the error at 1/3. --136.172.253.11 (talk) 20:10, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Vandalisme sur la page Hospitality Service

Bonjour,

Jyhegron (talk) 12:54, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

VoABot II appears to be down

I noticed that VoABot II is not making edits after someone brought it up on IRC, the last edit was made at 14:11, March 17, 2008 (UTC -07:00). I checked the config page, and there have been no recent edits, nor have there been any recent blocks of the bot. I guess this goes to show how much we depend on our anti-vandal bots. :P --FastLizard4 (TalkIndexSign) 03:31, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I only started editing that a few days ago and just made a few edits like name of a basketball team and player height. I noticed on the page history that an anonymous IP was vandalizing the page. I went back and all edits I made were vandalized. If you check the page the person is deleting anything relating to the person's brother, another professional basketball player as if it's not allowed to state the person also had a brother that is a pro player? But anyway, from the point on where he did a bit of vandalizing, any edit made to the page after, whether it has anything to do with this or not is reverted back to his edit, erasing all since edits.

They are erasing any edit to anything that comes after this as they revert back to their page, meaning no further edits can be done to the page. Anyway I wonder if this person has been vandalizing that page for a long time now? I've always mainly edited on basketball from Europe and Greece and never seen this problem before but apparently this player page does get vandalized. If this person wants to delete anything he thinks he does not want said about this player that's his business, but where does he get off reverting always back to his edit removing all edits by other people since then? How do you fix this? Ogmion Ogmios (talk) 13:47, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, if it becomes a problem again, then you can ask an admin to block the IP. Voice-of-All 19:14, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Vasileios Spanoulis edit

Hi there! I was wondering that seeing as you're an admin you could help me with this article, Vasileios Spanoulis. I spent the better part of an hour standardising a lot of references and notes, style changes, excess links and verbiage, what-not, etc., and my changes either get reverted by a bot (which I can understand as it's automated and doesn't know the difference between a legitimate edit and acts of vandalism) or by this user, Ogmion Ogmios, who continues to deliberately roll back to an earlier version of the article it seems he/she feels comfortable with and subsequently does not to like to have anyone else making changes to. This I believe is not only counter-productive to the project, but unfair to other users. Please, if you can, have a word with this user as I have asked them (non-rudely) to refrain from repeating his/her behaviour. Thanks in advance. And thanks for reverting the bot's edit for the other day! It was frustrating the crap out of me. Bye. :)--124.168.18.170 (talk) 13:01, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi - just in case you're wondering, Ogmion Ogmios are sort of working this out, I hope it won't get ugly, I have stressed that he shouldn't do it again; I've reverted his massive rollback (his excuse for this: that I have "deleted information", therefore vandalised, which I find disappointing.) and incorporated his subsequent changes into mine to appease him, but if he reverts again could you please tell him not to? thanks.. bye..:)--124.168.18.170 (talk) 07:50, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I am sincerely sorry to bug you again but can you please assist me on the Vasileios Spanoulis page. I have tried to apply an edit but I think either your bot erases it or two editors (possibly the same person) keeping reverting it. Is this allowed? Wiki Greek Basketball has performed this edit - surely this is not the way to build an article? Thanks, - sorry for annoying you.. bye:) --124.168.18.170 (talk) 15:28, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Philippines national football team (diff) was reverted by an automated bot. The edit was identified as adding vandalism, or link spam to the page or having an inappropriate edit summary. If you want to experiment, please use the preview button while editing or consider using the sandbox. If this revert was in error, please contact the bot operator. If you made an edit that removed a large amount of content, try doing smaller edits instead. Thanks! // VoABot II (talk) 12:32, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Dear Vioce of all,

I recently recieved this message. It has occured to me that I have never even visited the Philipines national football team page from this computer. I believe your bot may have made a mistake OR someone has been misusing my Internet connection. Either way I seek your understanding and I hope you can improve your bots, to avoid future mistakes such as this. I hope to say that your bot is okay and someone misused my Internet connection, which I'd like to believe.

Thank you
