Local Election Turnout Figures[edit]

Hi. Could you explain the Turnout out figures, please. Let's take This example in Bath. The sum of the votes do not total 1,312. Where did you get your data? --Dave F63 (talk) 11:05, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All sourced from the council's website, the turnout totals include those votes rejected. [1] Ytfc23 (talk) 21:24, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Template: Current UK Liberal Democrat MPs[edit]

My thinking behind the inclusion of Stephen Farry was that Alliance *are* a sister party to the Lib Dems, and I believe that Alliance MPs (on the rare occasions they are elected) sit with the Lib Dems in the House of Commons and effectively take their whip, so he is worth noting on this template - and I did retitle the template to include reference to the Alliance party. I won't protest if you still don't think they should be included, just wanted to explain my reasoning. Cwmxii (talk)

Hi! Thanks for continuing with adding Parliaments to the list. While you are at it, please note that Caroline Spelman is no longer an MP. --Hrhr2 (talk) 16:05, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Greeting[edit]

Hello. I am doing research for a new "Where Are They Now" website, which is centred around little-known footballers who had spells at professional football clubs. In this instance, it appears as though you continue to removal this particular footballer, who from our records had the previously included loan spell at the club, that you have deleted. We use Wikipedia as a point of reference for a number of the entries on our website. Your support is appreciated. Thank you Kpros2020 (talk) 08:07, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeovil 05/06 loanee[edit]

Hi - following on from my above message - I was hopeful of a reply by now - especially as you are very quick to remove new edits? I do not wish to waste time resubmitting, just for you to remove it, so a prompt response would be welcomed Kpros2020 (talk) 08:42, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your messages. Do you have a source to prove the player you added was on loan at Yeovil during the 2005/06 season? Ytfc23 (talk) 13:40, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply. We source all of our information, stats and information on "where they are now" from newspaper articles, books/magazines, forums, club websites and in some instances directly from the player. It would appear as though this information was sourced from the following sources. 1) A publication from the "Yeovil Times" newspaper from November 2005. 2) 3 x publications on a website called "Ciderspace" from November 2015. I will resubmit shortly, and I am also focusing on another player (another Goalkeeper called "Francisco Ramos") and would like to also add him for my source and citation, but do not wish to spend the time doing it if you are going to remove it. Your cooperation and prompt reply is appreciated. Kpros2020 (talk) 09:47, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If there are reliable citations for the first loanee then I will not remove your edits. Regarding "Francisco Ramos" he is already included in the article. Ytfc23 (talk) 17:53, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have just found the "Francisco Ramos" section on this page. It is not added correctly, which is why I could not find him. His citation appears to also be "Ciderspace", which is the same website where we have a lot of information for this particular player "Damien Norman", however the website appears to be down at the moment and we are unable to load these articles. I have a few citations for this particular player (Damien Norman), I will add them, but none of them (including Francisco Ramos) are working. I trust that this will be ok. Kpros2020 (talk) 13:02, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you believe Francisco Ramos was added incorrectly? To add new citations from Ciderspace you will need to try to retrieve them from a web archive as the site is unfortunately no more. Ytfc23 (talk) 13:05, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Both citations for "Francesco Ramos" on the page are Ciderspace, which are no longer working. We had three citations for "Damien Norman", and I have no idea how to "retrieve from a web archive", so I feel a bit boxed in-in terms of how I cite this players loan. I assume an archived news article from a local paper will suffice? Kpros2020 (talk) 13:21, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Our publisher has set a minimum standard of every featured player being cited here (Wikipedia). We spend a lot of time finding out stories about each players past and present so in order to ensure that this time has not been wasted and that we can run the article/publication on each featured player, it is important that we can add this information for those players Kpros2020 (talk) 13:29, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have the links to these citations that you mention? Ytfc23 (talk) 12:35, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. As mentioned prior - all of these links no longer work including the Ramos one. Some of the other players that we are researching have pages with broken links also, but this is fine for us as we only need to link them to here for our site. Most of the players that we are adding have Wikipedia pages/are mentioned on here, but there are a few that do not, and so we are having to create them. It appears as though Norman was only on loan at Yeovil for a very short amount of time. I note that a lot of other players have wikipedia references to them with the sole citation being transfer market/westfusbol etc - if we have players with this, will this suffice? Kpros2020 (talk) 10:38, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried putting the broken links through web.archive.org to see if you can retrieve an archive copy? Unfortuantely transfer market is not a Wikipedia:Reliable sources because its data comes from user edits which do not provide verifiable citations. Ytfc23 (talk) 16:57, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, I have tried the website that you suggest. None of the articles worked, on the exception of one, where the story is not about this player, but the player is mentioned/referenced. Having reviewed a number of other footballers on here, I note that a high number of them are using transfer market (which you say cannot be used?), but also another website 'WorldFootball' as their citation for profiles. Is this one an accepted credible citation? If not, I think that I will duly move on and focus on the other players, although this will be a terrible shame as we have invested a lot of time in this. Judging by your username I am guessing you are a Yeovil Town anorak? If this is the case, I am very surprised that you do not know of this player. Thanks. Kpros2020 (talk) 18:36, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I would consider myself an "anorak" when it comes to Yeovil Town and I have no recollection of Damien Norman at all and cannot find any reference to him on Ciderspace News pages for the 2005-06 season or in either of the two club history/statistic books that I own, whereas I do remember Francisco Ramos being signed as goalkeeper cover and can find reference to that on Ciderspace. Regarding transfermarket I am merely following the lead of WP:WikiProject Football who have indicated that they do not view it as a reliable source. In terms of 'WorldFootball' it appears a more reliable site although their page on Norman shows no specifics or references, so I feel to be included he should have a secondary source with more specific detail referenced. Ytfc23 (talk) 19:25, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning, I appreciate your responses. It is a shame that you do not have any further citations or references for this particular player, as these could have proven useful for us. I may contact you about any potential future players that we wish to run who played for Yeovil, as based on you being an avid fan, you may have some interesting information. Having said that, this is the only player that is linked to this club for now.

Sadly, all the information that we have on this particular player with regards to his time at this club (Yeovil) is that he was a Goalkeeper who was with Yeovil Town prior to their FA Cup campaign that year, but from the looks of it, Yeovil Town did not extend his time at the club. I believe that he did not start a game for them, which is probably why there is little to no information. This is quite common place for loanees as you probably know. The Ciderspace articles no longer work, so I cannot use these.

I was not aware of a 'Worldfootball' page for this particular player. I have just done a search and still cannot locate this, but I will have another look later, however I was asking in general as we do have profiles from Worldfootball for a number of other players that we are working on, so it useful that we can use this for these players, as well as links to their Wikipedia section (most other players already feature here). If it shows no statistics, this is probably because based on our records, this player did not play a match for a club.

With regards to this particular player, I will have to speak to my seniors to see whether or not we have enough information to run him. Now that you have mentioned a "worldfootball" profile, if we can locate this, despite you saying that this is not enough, I would appreciate some support based on my endeavours here and allow this to be enough to have this player added here. It does not sound as though I am going to be able to locate any further information, and with respect, we do note a high number of other footballers who in fact have a whole wikipedia page based on similar profiles, so I hope that this will suffice Kpros2020 (talk) 10:30, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - A prompt response would be welcomed - as per previous message will the reference (as many other profiles solely rely on) of World Football stop you from revoking the changes/reference/profile? Rather oddly, you seem to the "gate keeper" for this particular Football Clubs Wikipedia Profile (it seems strange seeking permission from you) but nevertheless a prompt response would be appreciated, because my editor is not allowing this players profile to run without it and I certainly do not want to waste any time adding the player for you to remove it again. Thank you Kpros2020 (talk) 12:53, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I hadn't realised there was a question in your previous message until I re-read it. His worldfootball profile doesn't have any specific detail so it would depend on what information you were planning to include whether it would be a sufficient reference or not. For example it doesn't have any detail about his career or whether he was on loan or contracted to Yeovil. If you feel I'm acting as a gatekeeper to the article then you're more than welcome to take this discussion to WT:FOOTY. Ytfc23 (talk) 13:09, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remeao[edit]

Hello, and thanks for fixing my typo in the infobox. Is the Somerset Premier Cup a first-team comp for Yeovil? if it's not, it doesn't really belong in the stats table, but if it is, please could you add a source for him playing in it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:22, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, officially it's has been a first team competition when Yeovil have been in non-league (while they were in the Football League they fielded a 'Reserve' side), albeit in practice the team fielded is usually a mix of first team and youth team players. The best source I can find unfortunately is from the offical club Twitter account [2] confirming the line up from Yeovil's second round match again Radstock Town. Do you think that's sufficient? Unfortuantely the only match report of the game was from Radstock who didn't provide a team line-ups [3] Ytfc23 (talk) 18:32, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Birmingham Senior Cup is technically a first-team competition for all entrants, including the Premier League teams, see last season's results page where it says FIRST after all the team names, but in practice, they field a bunch of kids with the odd fringe first-teamer or bloke coming back from injury (although my lot did include Nikola Zigic for a farewell appearance in the 2015 final). You'd think there's be a team sheet on ytfc.net for a first-team match, all the same. Anyway, you know more about YTFC than I do, if you think it does count then use the Twitter source. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:33, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering whether he should count as a Welsh Fire cricketer, as a combination of his thigh injury and being in the Test squad meant that he never actually played in a match for them. JH (talk page) 08:58, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that WP:CRIC seems to agree that players should only be included in categories if they have appeared in a fixture for a team rather than solely if they are contracted (or on the roster). So I guess it should be removed even though Pope was listed as a 2021 squad member. Ytfc23 (talk) 19:36, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Championships[edit]

Y, I see you're a tennis editor who created articles such as 2016 Nielsen Pro Tennis Championships where "Championships" seems to be inappropriately plural. I just did a fix at 2015 Nielsen Pro Tennis Championship and related articles, but wanted to get your input before continuing in that direction. Back when nielsenprotennis.com existed, it only used the singular, as far as I've found (but I didn't look further back than 2015); see archived 2016 page. I don't know if this pattern extends to other tennis championships. Let me know what you think. Dicklyon (talk) 02:46, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure which is correct if I'm honest, having just had a quick look for examples:
  • The Queen's Club Championships site refers to itself as "Championships" plural rather than singluar [4]
  • As does Wimbledon which refers to itself as The Championships, Wimbledon [5]
  • For a non-UK examples, the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships also uses the plural [6]
  • But then the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships does use the singular [7] so perhaps it is an American thing using the singular "Championship".
Perhaps this is a question to ask at WP:TENNIS, to work out a wider consensus. Ytfc23 (talk) 21:07, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll ask there. Thanks. Dicklyon (talk) 03:44, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alec Stock[edit]

So as you seem to be the resident Yeovil Town person round here, hoping you can help with something. I'm trying to correct and source List of football managers with the most games and for Alec Stock I'm lacking a source for how many Yeovil games he managed. I have gone through the old Ciderspace site to manually count how many games they say, and have come up with 149 matches, excluding friendlies. His page currently claims 153 (although it had claims for his time at Roma and QPR which I have proven to have been made up, so this may well be inaccurate). Do you have a site or book or anything that can confirm directly one way or the other? Thanks! Gran2 17:54, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Gran2, sorry for the slow reply. I've been back through my Yeovil Town history books and tried to manually count from the most authoritative history of the club (you can find a copy of it here Hendford to Huish Park ) From that source, 153 seems to be the correct figure if you include all first-team competitions, Southern League, FA Cup, Southern League Cup and Somerset Professional Cup from his appointment in February 1946 to Stock's departure on 3rd September 1949. Thanks for updating the tables. It's interesting to see how many of the results posted by the league aren't the same as they were on the day...
