User page[edit]

Sorry to see that dumbness on your user page. I hope you don't take it personally. I usually interpret that sort of thing as feedback indicting you are doing a good job here! If you never attract any attention you are probably not being bold enough in your edits, especially vandal fighting. - Ahunt (talk) 00:27, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I found the whole thing to be very unusual, as my only previous interaction with that editor was when I reverted an unsourced change at Lockheed C-130 Hercules. I've had minor vandalism on my userpage before, but I guess I'm doing something right if vandalism on this scale is happening. - ZLEA T\C 00:36, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is even a userbox badge of honour you can add to your user page {{User:Tasc0/Userboxes/Vandalized|add number of times here as a digit}}. - Ahunt (talk) 00:44, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will wear it with honor :) - ZLEA T\C 00:50, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You earned it!
I once had someone vandalize my user page, but the vandalism they did was to increase the number in that box by one, so I figured that counted... - Ahunt (talk) 01:05, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page watcher) I remember that one! (And it might have been more than once!) But yeah, this was extremely odd, and for no obvious reason. BilCat (talk) 02:33, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

United States Dollar[edit]

Information on different topics isn't always updated, and with {{}}, it can make updating more difficult. IF I did something I wasn't supposed to do, I'm sorry. Some people get angry when the information on topics isn't 100% perfect.

Sadly, the United States Dollar no longer has a value like it used to. 2600:8805:9017:EE00:20F2:F899:C388:AEA4 (talk) 06:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' newsletter – September 2023[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, TFAs will be automatically semi-protected the day before it is on the main page and through the day after.
  • A discussion at WP:VPP about revision deletion and oversight for dead names found that [s]ysops can choose to use revdel if, in their view, it's the right tool for this situation, and they need not default to oversight. But oversight could well be right where there's a particularly high risk to the person. Use your judgment.

Technical news

Arbitration

  • The SmallCat dispute case has closed. As part of the final decision, editors participating in XfD have been reminded to be careful about forming local consensus which may or may not reflect the broader community consensus. Regular closers of XfD forums were also encouraged to note when broader community discussion, or changes to policies and guidelines, would be helpful.

Miscellaneous

  • Tech tip: The "Browse history interactively" banner shown at the top of Special:Diff can be used to easily look through a history, assemble composite diffs, or find out what archive something wound up in.

List of United States fighter aircraft[edit]

I understand if you are busy and unable to quickly respond to my message.

I am simply asking you, the expert, should foreign aircraft used by the United States be included in the list of United States fighter aircraft? BeeboMan (talk) 02:56, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

BeeboMan It depends on the exact scope of the list. If the scope is fighter aircraft produced by the United States, then imported aircraft should not be included (with the possible exception of aircraft of foreign design that were produced in the US under license). If the scope is fighter aircraft used by the US military, then imported aircraft should be included alongside US-built aircraft. It appears to me that List of United States fighter aircraft does not yet have the exact scope defined. Personally, I would include a combination of US-built and US-used fighter aircraft, but be sure to note the aircraft that were export-only.
On a side note, I would break down the list into separate tables for each branch. To determine how the predecessors of the modern branches should be handled, I would follow the example set by List of undesignated military aircraft of the United States. - ZLEA T\C 04:29, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your time. Would it get okay if "Foreign-built aircraft" be split into a separate table? Also, what needs to be done if, for example, the F7F appears both on the Naval list and Air Force list? BeeboMan (talk) 12:55, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I'll follow up on your suggestions, again thank you for your time. BeeboMan (talk) 13:00, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And what will be of aircraft that were never built, never entered service, and has no clear answer to who operated this one/intened to operate, such as the Curtiss HA? BeeboMan (talk) 13:31, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
BeeboMan I'm happy to help. I don't know that we need to have separate tables for US and foreign fighter designs. Sorting by national origin should be easy with a sortable table. For aircraft used by multiple branches, it would be best to list them in each applicable table, but with the service years adjusted for when they served with each branch. Unbuilt aircraft probably should not be included unless they were clearly intended for service with the US military, such as if they were given a fighter designation by a branch or if reliable sources state that they were intended for US service. - ZLEA T\C 13:51, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For export-only fighters, there should probably be a separate section and table below those of the branches. - ZLEA T\C 13:52, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my admittedly petty questions. Have a good day! BeeboMan (talk) 14:30, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bismuth
some bismuth! Sebbers10 (talk) 20:28, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sebbers10 Thanks! I've always wanted my own bismuth! - ZLEA T\C 22:16, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh and question, what kind of recent changes patrol set is best to catch vandals Sebbers10 (talk) 20:20, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sebbers10 I've found Special:BlankPage/RTRC to be the best place to watch for vandals, and it goes without saying that WP:Twinkle is your best friend. There are other tools that you might find helpful, but I have not used any of them. You might play around with some of them until you find what works for you. - ZLEA T\C 20:28, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Will you help in an infobox[edit]

@ZLEA, I've added all units that I were to add in Template:Israel–Hamas war infobox, but it seems kinda squished, tried multiple times to fix it, couldn't, will ya please help, anyways thanks for your kind behaviour that you showed by fixing my USERBOX M Waleed (talk) 15:28, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

all these units were taken from other articles of the battles, I wrote in edit summary, of you ask for the source of these units M Waleed (talk) 15:29, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
M Waleed Is there a discussion that led to the addition of these units to the infobox? Personally, I think the conflict has grown to the point where it might not be feasible to include a complete list of units in the infobox, and it might be better to move the list to the Israel–Hamas war article itself. That said, you might also consider creating a content fork, perhaps titled List of units involved in the Israel–Hamas war. Whatever you decide, you should probably discuss it first at Talk:Israel–Hamas war. - ZLEA T\C 17:45, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I put the units in a collapsible format and I think it should be placed as all of the idf is not involved, M Waleed (talk) 00:31, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To answer your question, the infobox otherwise looks fine on my device. May I ask what your screen resolution is? I'll see if I can replicate the problems you are having. - ZLEA T\C 17:48, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the problem is that the titles, Israel Hezbollah conflict and red sea crisis, instead of being in the back start from middle M Waleed (talk) 00:33, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see it now. It was caused by a misplaced "}}" which ended the "Inavsion of Gaza Strip:" bullet list after the "Red sea crisis:" section. It is fixed now. Let me know if you find any other issues. - ZLEA T\C 01:01, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot M Waleed (talk) 02:55, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ZLEA, I might sound a bit annoying but can you also fix the units on the side of Hamas, the collapsed list has its title hidden, I Mean it doesn't show up , only [Show] comes but not the title, moreover what I may add is that while you're at it also use the small template for Hamas units as well as units on other fronts. M Waleed (talk) 14:51, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
M Waleed No problem. It's fixed now, but I did notice a link to the Lone Wolf disambiguation page among the list of armed groups. Is this referring to a group called the "Lone Wolves"? If so, then the link should be changed to reflect that, even if no article currently exists (for example, Lone Wolves (Palestinian group) or similar). However, if it's referring to lone individuals not affiliated with any group, then it probably should not be grouped with actual armed groups. - ZLEA T\C 15:06, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's referring to Non affiliates and there are many articles of such lone wolf attacks I can provide in a second. M Waleed (talk) 15:31, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
2024 Ra'anana attack 2024 Kiryat Malakhi attack etc are examples of lone wolf attacks in this war M Waleed (talk) 15:40, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
M Waleed Unaffiliated individuals should probably be listed separately from armed groups. Perhaps they could be listed in their own section like the Palestine Police currently is. - ZLEA T\C 15:42, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I'll do so M Waleed (talk) 15:44, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Moreover also convert the size of individual units of Hamas and those of Other theatres to small size M Waleed (talk) 15:36, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Done - ZLEA T\C 15:52, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks M Waleed (talk) 15:56, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
