To Do List

I think we need a to do list or something because there are some things I can think of that should be done and more people that might want to join can see in what direction we're heading. Just some things I think need to be done:

  • New picture of My Chemical Romance
  • Genre resolution
  • Clean up of all new song articles (on The Black Parade page)
  • Clean up of The Black Parade so as to include an Overview (this includes the concept) and then add a section for the whole Black Parade controversy. Like how people thought of different theories for what the Black Parade was and the whole mystery.

Thos are just some other things that I think should get done.  Orfen User Talk 03:42, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

I have created the page for Our Lady of Sorrows, so if anyone has anything to add, go ahead. Since it was on the to do list I just decided to do it. So if anyone has anything to add, go ahead.  Orfen User Talk 22:34, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Nice. I'll add anything if I come across some info. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 22:43, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Introductions

Hi all!

I think we should all introduce ourselves and say why and how were helping this project.

I'm Matt Oakes. I'm 15 from Cheshire, England and I'm a massive My Chemical Romance fan. I've been a fan since the music started filtering onto british music channel in 2004 and have been a massive fan ever since. I plan on helping the project by adding as much as I know to all the articles and helping to organise the project. --Lotrgamemast 21:41, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Good idea, I'm Mitchell. I also am 15 and from Illinois. I have been a fan of My Chemical Romance for a while now, probably since 2004 as well. I was introduced to them by my cousin and have been hooked ever since. Basically I have been following the whole Black Parade mystery from the beginning since the site came out over the summer and have been keeping up with all new information. I have been contributing to the My Chemical Romance related articles probably more out of any other articles right now. For this project I have created the Our Lady of Sorrows article and I am also attempting to get a genre resolution for My Chemical Romance. I am trying to watch vandalism on all related articles and adding, removing, and revising information as appropriate. But my goals for this project is to eventually make My Chemical Romance article a FA and a couple song articles Good articles if not Featured. Right now I want to get a genre resolution though so we can finally get community consensus on a genre. Anyways, nice to meet you, and looking forward to working with you. If you need anything, let me know.  Orfen User Talk 22:16, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Lol, not very ambitious then with the FA :D --Lotrgamemast 22:39, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Ok. So my name is Hunter and I'm only 12 1/2. I live somewhere in New Hampshire, but I don't really want to tell you. You can try and figure out where yourself, but I really don't anyone writing it out in clear view. I like to make my identity a little mysterious, plus, I don't want to end up getting stalked, but I seriously doubt two 15 year old will find where I live and sneak into my house. So, I became a MCR fan over the summer after I heard one of their songs a friend had. I had heard of MCR before that, but had never heard their music, and people I know always said they were emo and really weird and played bad music. But once I heard it, I realized that everyone that said those things were dead wrong. I progressively became more and more "obsessed" with MCR, and here I am now. Like Orfen, I hope to make the MCR an FA, and I also hope to resolve the genre dispute. Just to let you guys know, you guys make it sound like something being emo is a bad thing, but I don't really see why. I'm not exactly emo (ok, maybe 1/4), but I love the music and have complete respect for those that are emo. So, you make it sound like you would hate the band if they were emo. But whatever, maybe that' just me. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 00:02, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
The problem that people have with it is the fact that by "emo" they are saying My Chemical Romance promotes self harm and stuff usually associated with being emo. However My Chem is total opposite of this where they promote hope and living. I don't think emo people are bad or anything but I feel that emo really doesn't mean anything, I never say it in real life. I think what people need to understand is that depressed and emo have different meaning but people are saying MCR is this emo depressed band. I just think they don't deserve to be labeled as something they are not. I wouldn't hate them if they were emo because I am one of those My Chemical Romance fans that are practically obsessed. I seriously can't get enough of their music and am constantly amazed at what they do. I just feel the term emo is being thrown around way too much lately and we should only use it where appropriate. But that's my thoughts on the word emo.  Orfen User Talk 20:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
i never really thought mcr to be emo. people really think that just because some current music is dark, they think it's emo. i always thought that they were more goth and metal influenced. which, as far as i know, emo came from punk. but this is all totally my opinion. i also think that even if they aren't emo, there sould be somthing in the article saying how lots of people think that they are. but again, this is all just my opinion on the subject.Dizzydark 18:17, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I think some areas of thier music is somewhat punk based and they have said themselves in the recent iTunes interview that some of the newer stuff that they didn't put in the album were "straight punk songs", so there is that element in there. I however do think that they also have some metal sound in the first album and a little less coming towards the newer stuff. The music/riffs in Three Cheers for sweet revenge is very punk infuluanced.--Lotrgamemast 23:14, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

definatly. they sound kind of hardcore punk influenced. especially on their earlier albums. and i think their new album will be more metalish. in the sense that queen was, with their solos and stuff, like bohemian rhapsody. at least thats what im assuming from their new single. but, like a lot of bands, i dont think they can ever fully fit into just one or two genres. Dizzydark 20:42, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

That would make them boring if it was only one genre. I really think it is more punk influanced at the start and more metal nearer the newer stuff.--Lotrgamemast 00:06, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
i agree with all that. and i think if i go any farther with this whole emo thing, theres just gonna be another thing on what genre they are and/or arent. but i really dont think there can ever be a definate answer.Dizzydark 00:52, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I'm ViperBlade (check my profile for info about my real name and assorted stuff). I'm hoping to contribute as much as I possibly can towards this Wikiproject, and I'm frankly honoured to be a part of it.
Thanks for the invite, Orfen!
 ViperBlade Talk!! 17:09, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm Shane, I've not made any substantial add's to any MCR pages, but I've given nudges and little bits of information where possible. MCR has got to be my ultimate favourite band everr XD Thanks Viper for the invite, hopefully we can make the MCR articles so much better. Kokiri kid 08:40, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I'm WIKI-GUY-16, just got an invite to join thsi project (thanks íslenskur), so I did. I had just started adding sections to each of the songs called "The Patient's Story", describing how each song relates to his story, and I'm wondering if I should remove those, or keep continung them? I'm also having trouble discerning how some of the song's relate to the patient's story(like Mama, Teenagers, Sharpest Lives), maybe they don't relate at all. I'm the one doing the interprtations of the story though, and it could be very different then my interpretation, so maybe I should remove the sections. Take a look at some of them (I've done them for Dead, House of Wolves, Cancer, I Don't Love You, Disenchanted, and How I Disappear so far)and tell me what you guys want me to do? WIKI-GUY-16 16:33 25 October (UTC)

I think they should all be looked at. There is definatly a story, but there is no original research on Wikipedia. I think these should be discussed and maybe searched for on a different website or something. There is a story and it should be put down on The Black Parade page each of the individual pages but there isn't allowed original research on Wikipedia.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:04, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I'd say just keep them for now. They are done well enough. There is no original research but the information is needed.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:19, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I just want to thank whoever it was that did The Patient's Story for Mama. I was having a really hard time with that one, and I had tried to write it many times, but it never translated well. So again thanks to who did that, and the Patient's Story is now done. The only two songs that don't have them are Sharpest Lives and Teenagers, because they don't seem to relate to his story. If anyone thinks they do, feel free to add a Patient's Story section to them. Also feel free to add or remove from the existing Patient's Story sections if you feel there's a need for it. WIKI-GUY-16 1:14 28 October (UTC)

Hi guys! I'm Jude ( the female kind of Jude, not the Law kind ) and I'm 21. I don't have a "home town" because I've lived everywhere, otherwise I'd state one. I typically use British English, but on articles that aren't about Britain or British people, I try to use American spellings and phrases. If you see me slip up and put something "too british" in, feel free to edit. I definitely won't be offended. I've been an MCR fan for about 4 years now; since Bullets came out[1]. I recently wrote a letter to The Sun (newspaper) about their "Emo" article[2] which poked fun at them personally rather than fairly and about their music. I invite you all to do the same, if you wish.--Jude 01:22, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

The Black Parade Article

I've made a reorganised version of The Black Parade article, you can find it here. Please join the talk here.--Lotrgamemast 20:56, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Relationship WithThe Used

I can't seem to find any source info on the last paragraph of "Relationship With The Used" section of the main My Chemical Romance page.Could someone help me out?If we can't find a source than I find we should delete that paragraph. SOADLuver 00:32, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

The part I could see that should be deleted is the part about saying it was in an article. If that article is not found then that part should be deleted. We do need a source saying that they had a disagreement and I don't even know how the song "Disenchanted" has anything to do with My Chemical Romance's relationship with The Used. That I feel should be sourced or even removed since it doesn't seem to apply anymore. I just feel it should be touched on that they were good friends, possibly had an arguement, and now it doesn't matter.  Orfen User Talk 00:49, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes I agree with that SOADLuver 01:08, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

WPMCR Userbox

I've created a userbox for people who are members of this wikiproject and added it to their userpages with all their other userbox's. Hope noone minds :D--Lotrgamemast 22:49, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Personally I'm ok with it thanks for adding it for me. SOADLuver 00:09, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Good job, and thanks for adding it. It's just too bad we don't have a fair use picture we can use in the userbox to make it a little more interesting looking. I'm fine with it however, it is well done.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:16, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Project Directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council is currently in the process of developing a master directory of the existing WikiProjects to replace and update the existing Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. These WikiProjects are of vital importance in helping wikipedia achieve its goal of becoming truly encyclopedic. Please review the following pages:

and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope to have the existing directory replaced by the updated and corrected version of the directory above by November 1. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 21:43, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if you tried to update it before, and the corrections were gone. I have now put the new draft in the old directory pages, so the links should work better. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused you. B2T2 00:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Matt Pelissier article cleanup

I know Matt is a former My Chemical Romance member, however, his article is still bare and needs a cleanup and is within the project scope. I don't think this is a really high priority project that needs to be done, but I'm just putting it out there because I think it should get done.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:46, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

"Vampires Will Never Hurt You" lyrics... on every My Chemical Romance page?

Why on Earth are there copies of (rather horribly-typed) lyrics for Vampires Will Never Hurt You in the My Chemical Romance link box that appears on every related Wikipedia page? Not only is the entire thing devoid of basic necessities such as question marks; the link to the song page is dead because it is typed as 'Vampires Will Never Hurt You' and the layout is far from genius. In any case, I do not feel that this section is at all necessary anywhere on Wikipedia - including on the song page - considering that this is not a lyric source.
Shinigami Kamenzi 16:46, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I think its just some vandal
Boggon155 18:22, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

The Patient page

[3] as you can see people are trying to delete the page but we should try and give more infomation togethor and keep it going as it is a vital page for the MCR Project involving MCR very very much.

If anyone has any pictures of the animated version of 'The Patient' and the original real life version from the album art please put on the page.

I just feel as of now, I don't think there is enough information to create a full article. I think if anything we compress the information and move it onto The Black Parade page and have a picture and everything there but I'm not sure if there is enough information to warrant it's own article, that's why I had to vote delete.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 20:57, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Commentary on the storyline for The Black Parade

All of this needs to be deleted. It is OR, unsourced and conflicts with commentary in sourced media (for example, NME says that the Patient dies during Dead!). Until you can source it, it does not belong on Wikipedia. Period. --Jamdav86 18:30, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I think that most all of the song pages should be deleted, except for the singles. we could probably fit everything on the black parade page.Dizzydark 01:49, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree. --Jamdav86 20:18, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

"Give 'Em Hell, Kid" AfD and Article Cleanup

An article for "Give 'Em Hell, Kid" was recently created and now has an AfD here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Give 'Em Hell, Kid. Please express your opinions on the matter there. I suggest we clean it up and add more to the article, that is just my suggestion. I will get on it and some more information that I can find to it. Also, "The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You" looks similar to the "Give 'Em Hell, Kid" article. I think we should also fix this one up. I will try and get some of that done as well. Anyways those are just my thoughts on the matter, just thought I'd bring it up to those that might not know.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 02:57, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Heaven Help Us

Heaven Help Us is an MCR song that was on the single version of "Welcome to the Black Parade". It's a stub right know and it would be cool if someone could expand it, since I don't know much about it. – Zntrip 19:18, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Original research

I notice there's a lot of suspected original research in the song articles. Commentary upon lyrics should come from noteworthy music critics, not Wikipedians. LuciferMorgan 01:02, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I wanted to let you know that the use of {{user black parade}} violates the ninth criterion of WP:FUC: "[Fair use images] should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." Please remove the album cover from the template. —ShadowHalo 23:48, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I removed it.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 20:49, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks! —ShadowHalo 21:45, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Warped Tour Bootleg Series

The Warped Tour Bootleg Series is a live EP that I fould here on Rhapsody. Should it be incorperated in to this project? There are articles for all the Green Day live EPs so why not one by My Chemical Romance? – Zntrip 23:50, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually not every Green Day EP has an article.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 03:50, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I apologize, they do. I haven't checked the template lately and I remember a lot of red last time I seen. Again, I apologize.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 06:02, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

So should what does everyone think? Should it be part of the project? – Zntrip 21:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes, make an article. --Jamdav86 21:55, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
I would say yes, however I'm just not sure if the EP is notable enough. I'd say it for sure should be added in possibly the Other Projects section in the main article but I'm not sure if the EP is itself notable enough for an article. I'd say to note it for sure but I'm not sure if to create an article.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 02:18, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I also think it is notable enough to have an article. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 14:08, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

The Black Parade future single adds

As some of you may know there has been a lot of unsourced single information being added in The Black Parade article. I have since added an html note to the bottem of the single sections stating: "Please do not add any future singles without a source. This can be considered a hoax which is vandalism and will be treated as such." If a single is added without a source please remove it and add the appropriate warning to the user's talk page. Please see WP:HOAX and WP:VANDAL.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 20:15, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

If anyone wants the link to the next 2 singles being released it is http://www.vh1.com/search/search.jhtml?searchtype=album&searchterm=my+chemical+romance where it states that "Disenchanted" and "I Don't Love You" will be the next singles albums released. If I am wrong for some reason then feel free to delete this.

This was agreed upon as untrue information or at least not significant enough. There is no statement by the band or label saying these are the next singles so the information has not been used. Same with the MTV source stating the same thing saying "Disenchanted" and "I Don't Love You" are albums.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 02:34, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 18:06, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Discography

Would everyone be cool if I made a My Chemical Romance discography article? – Zntrip 05:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I would say yes, that'd be good. Only thing I could see other people thinking is that there is not enough stuff to put in there but I say go for it.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 05:52, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
If you really must. --Jamdav86 15:28, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Well I made the page. I added as much as I could find. (My Chemical Romance discography) – Zntrip 20:13, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

That is actually very well done. Nice job. But I don't think you can use the pics.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 07:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Sure we can. Covers of audio recording can only be used "to illustrate the audio recording in question". See Template:Albumcover. – Zntrip 20:17, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

No it says "solely to illustrate the audio recording in question". It says "Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement." I think because it is on a page other than their respective articles it is not allowed. The same thing happened in the Green Day article which is now a Good Article. They can't use pictures in the discography on the main article or the discography article. I don't know, that's just what I've seen in my time editing.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 20:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

That's how the images are being used right? "solely to illustrate the audio recording in question". There on the page so people can see what the album looks like. All of the other discography pages have cover images and they havn't had any problems. – Zntrip 22:02, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

If anyone wants the link to the next 2 singles being released it is http://www.vh1.com/search/search.jhtml?searchtype=album&searchterm=my+chemical+romance where it states that "Disenchanted" and "I Don't Love You" will be the next singles albums released.

The Umbrella Academy

I found the article for Gerard Way's upcoming comic book, The Umbrella Academy so I added it to this project. Please add to it if you can. – Zntrip 22:04, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I have nominated The Black Parade article for a Good Article. All references are sourced and there is no POV issues that I can see and it is pretty long now. However, we can still continue to make changes to it, so if you can find something please change it. It will be helpful and we'll actually have our first My Chemical Romance related Good Article. Thanks!  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 01:19, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Two things

1. I think we should start assessing our pages. We might be able to get Mathbot to keep a record of the changes in classes (and importance if we do that too). But I'm not the greatest assessor, so I'd really need some help.

2. I'm going to a concert (my first!) on my b-day (Feb. 22) in Manchester, NH. So I was wondering if anyone wanted me to try and get a shot of everyone in the band if I can to put in the article? Or maybe just some other random pix. Also, is anyone else going to the concert? icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 02:04, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I've had this come up in my other WikiProject I am in too. I'd have to say this is way too complicated to do unless someone has a good knowledge of the Wiki markup. Please look at Template:WPBiography to see the amount of work it would take to make a template for assessing pages. I mean, if I could probably sit through and edit one to fit ours but it still is quite a bit and if one thing is screwed up the it breaks the whole thing. Also, their concerts are fun, went to my first on December 15, going again on March 1. Good luck and have fun. Oh, and also, please try and get a pic of them individually and group. It'll be hard but we need new individual ones and a group one. Thanks!  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:26, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and just so you know, they don't usually allow cameras into the venue. At least they didn't when I went. They'll take it but if you can sneak one in they might kick you out. So maybe keep that in mind.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:32, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion

*Possibly create Demolition Lovers II article (it's the name of the artwork on the cover of 3 Cheers).

I removed this, because I don't think it'd be notable enough. Maybe it could go in a section on 3 Cheers page though. Shamess 08:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

kk. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 13:10, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it's notable either. Gerard's made lots of artwork for the albums. If it isn't already there it can be added to the Gerard Way page. – Zntrip 06:20, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Source

Can I please see a source for the Like Phantoms Forever EP? Also, I'm not sure if we really need to create articles for the EPs, not all bands have all EPs as articles.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:04, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Sure [4]. – Zntrip 00:46, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Ok, good. However I don't know if we should use a foreign source in English Wikipedia. Not many people are able to read that.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:04, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Doesn't matter, all the important stuff's in English. – Zntrip 00:38, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm posting this here since template talk pages are sometimes seldom visited. I have made a suggestion on Template talk:My Chemical Romance, and would appreciate any comments anyone has. Thanks, Dar-Ape 22:32, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Clean-up for the Gerard Way article

The article is getting out of hand with all the sections. I think it needs a clean-up. If anyone wants to try you can, I'll get to it soon, if or when The Black Parade GA passes.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 06:18, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

MCRmy

Any chance we could add something abou the MCRmy?Mcr616 20:55, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I don't believe there is much to add as many sources you can find are on the MCRmy website and you need to registered to view. Maybe mention something in the main article but I don't believe it needs it's own article and it might already been mentioned off hand in the main article.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 22:15, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I think we should add a little something seeing as the MCRmy is pretty large for a street team. Besides, the Despair Faction has it's own page, so I think if we could stick it in the MCR article somewhere, that would be great. If we need the references then I can get them from the website. Mcr616 01:12, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

But to retrieve this information then you need to log on which in turn is a little tough to use as a resource, of course, they are still used but more quality resources are always better. I don't know, it is a good quality resource but still if that is the only type of information then I don't know. I don't think we should create an article though, not sure if it is notable enough, that is the other problem of course. If it is not notable and does not have sources then it will quickly be deleted.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:04, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Aaargh!!!

Someone wants to delete the Disenchanted page. Mcr616 20:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

It has already been dealt with. If an AfD occurs then we should post our comments at the appropriate place.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:10, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

K, just thought I should let you guys know so you could vote on it. Mcr616 20:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Pic

Are we allowed to put pix of the back of a cd case on wikipedia? cuz i thought maybe we could upload that pic with the old lineup with matt. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 23:07, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I think that would be ok. Mcr616 02:40, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Do you mean to put this in for their picture in their article?  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 03:12, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 18:18, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
If you're using it as their main picture I would say no. It has Matt in it and since he is no longer in the band it is not current information, but if I am wrong and you would just like to use it towards the Early Career section then fine, but I don't think it should be used as the main picture. I'd rather go without a picture than add a non-current one. For the Sum 41 article as soon as a member left their band they stopped using him in the main picture. Since Matt left quite a bit ago I don't think we should use it as the main picture.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 22:08, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I think it would be a good pic to put in the early career version because it's the only group picture I can seem to find with Matt in it. Mcr616 20:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Yea, that's what I meant. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 21:10, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Here's a link 2 the pic; http://deniseraisbeck.tripod.com/mychemicalromancefan/thumbnails/400x300/0604_my_chemical_romance_a.jpg icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 22:59, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Either it's the wrong link or the pic is gone.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:49, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Weird. Here's a new link. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 21:59, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
I see, well, not sure if we should add it. First is it fair use? And second do you truly think it is needed? We have a picture of Matt in his article so not sure if the My Chemical Romance article would necessarily benefit from it. I don't know, I mean, add it if you want and can find fair use but I'm not sure if we necessarily need it, we have quite a few pictures already. I think we need to focus more on content now.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 22:20, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Should contact the band's management company and see if they'll release a photo for your use, or better still, under the GFDL (basically "any use for any purpose") There's form letters somewhere around on Wikipedia that you can send out. The plus side is they get to have whatever photo *they* want of themselves up there. For CD covers I'd recommend looking at the rationales used on the Tool page's images, last I checked they were all correctly done for CD images for fair use. Orderinchaos 15:11, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Gerard Way Talk page

I think Talk:Gerard Way needs to be watched. There is a lot of content on there that has nothing to do with improving the article. Should this be deleted? I know vandalism can be deleted but should we delete the nonsense? It's just a lot of it is getting out of hand and I think perhaps it should be looked into and deleted. I would delete it but I am unsure if it can be deleted. Just sort of bringing it up to everyone to see if this is an issue that should be looked into.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 03:52, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm going to have to agree. I have it on my watch page, but I never know if I can delete comments or not. I deleted a huge portion of nonsensical comments and uncalled for remarks from Talk:Billie Joe Armstrong and no one complained, but I'm not sure what the rules are on that. I'm just unsure of what the talk page rules are. It seems to me like we should be able to remove nonsense and "gerard way's sxc" comments... seriously.--Jude 05:31, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Ok, it says at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons: "Unsourced or poorly sourced controversial (negative, positive, or just highly questionable) material about living persons should be removed immediately from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, and user pages." I think that means that we can remove it.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 07:25, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
This is also on WP:TALK as well.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 07:37, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Under Pressure

Is this a single for My Chemical Romance? I was under the impression it was only a cover and then sold for charity. And does it need it's own article? Wasn't it deleted before? At Under Pressure (My Chemical Romance and The Used song). Mainly I need to know about the single because I don't want it in the template if it isn't true.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 02:15, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

It is an actual single. It was produced by Howard Benson and you can buy it on iTunes. It also appeared on American charts and it's called a single of The Used atricle. I don't know if it was deleted before, I just discovered the artilce. – Zntrip 02:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Like Phantoms Forever EP?

What is the Like Phantoms Forever EP? I have never heard of it and when I tried to search for it on google I couldn’t find anything. The reason I am asking this is because I seen it in the Open Tasks Section and I’m totally unsure of what it is. --MyChemical 12:58, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

It apparently is a rare EP that only about 200 or so were released as a supplement to a show they did early on, I believe that they were sold out before the band even got a copy. There isn't much information about it or the other EP so not much can be sourced anyways. This is why I am not sure if we should create an article for these EPs as they are fairly insignificant and if there isn't much to source anyways it wouldn't last long. Especially with The Black Parade songs up for deletion. Not enough significance and lack of sources is going to be the end of those articles unfortunatly.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:06, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I think the EP's should be taken off because I had no idea what they were and I think if you can't really find any sources for it it should be taken off. --MyChemical 00:53, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

It's listed on the discography page, but other than that I don't think it needs to appear any where else. I'll removed it from the task list. – Zntrip 02:11, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Heres a pretty good link [5]. You may have to click the ok for the age thing. but it does seem pretty reliable (and it's in english)hope it helps a little. Dizzydark 01:48, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

I'd suggest a paragraph or small section on the discography page, without creating a new article. Only the albums and maybe a few notable songs that made the news or surrounded a significant event should have separate articles, although you're free to write about the other stuff in general articles, either under the band itself or a discography type page. Orderinchaos 15:06, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Future singles

Has "I Don't Love You" been confermed as the next single? I can't find a site that says that it is. Someone put a link on The Black Parade artilce, but I can't open it. – Zntrip 22:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

The band has not officially came out and said it is, although an email was sent out to the mailing list. Still, nothing can be sourced yet. The article does open, but I think the article name is wrong and should be I Don't Love You instead of I Don't Love You (song) since there isn't another I Don't Love You article.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:05, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

We can just ask an admin to "resurrect" the old article... icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 21:17, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Flickr

Can we use any picture on Flickr? Cuz if we can, I'll go through and add a bunch of pix of mcr and the band members, as I saw a lot. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 03:08, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

If it fits the free use criteria. Mcr616 19:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Does that apply to all flickr pix? I think it does, but I don't want to get in trouble for uploading copyrighted images or something. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 21:18, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
What is flickr?  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 01:48, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
a website. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 01:51, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Then I probably wouldn't suggest using it. You just never know.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 02:25, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Well there is a image license template for flickr and there are several pix that have that license that don't seem to be getting deleted every week. So... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Icelandic Hurricane (talkcontribs) 02:40, 21 February 2007 (UTC).
Are these images you took yourself? If so, upload them to commons.wikipedia.org instead and they can be used not only in this article and project, but in any other language Wikipedias that want to use them (eg french, german etc) If not, you need a fair use rationale for each one. Task List

Could someone update the tasks list? I'm not sure if we still need it cause a few things I think have been completed.. but I don't think I'm a good enough judge to decide whether or not they are actually good. (Aspen Coles 11:00, 12 April 2007 (UTC))

lots of info

found this [6] article off theimmortalityproject.com. its from kerrang!, tons of stuff on the band. the website also has tons of other links to articles. could be useful... Dizzydark 02:02, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I have submitted the main My Chemical Romance article for a peer review. I feel that this is needed to help improve the quality of the article. I feel The Black Parade article is on the right track but the main article I feel needs some work now. The peer review is at Wikipedia:Peer review/My Chemical Romance/archive1 and any comments with how to improve the article are appreciated. It'd be nice to get some outside people looking at the article to tell us how to improve it, however any comments on how I or anyone else can help it is greatly appreciated.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:54, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Today's Featured Article page

Hi, an editor from this WikiProject has on three occasions attempted to add the My Chemical Romance article to the Featured Article queue. Unfortunately, the article is not a featured article, although I have no doubt you're all working hard to make it one in the near future, and wish you well on that. However, adding it to the queue will not make it a featured article, and may attract complaints which may prejudice the very people whose votes and help this project needs in the Featured Article Candidates process later on against doing so (I'm not an FAC reviewer, but I worked with some a while back and they are very helpful and very thorough). I have removed the "Important update! FA!" section from the front of this page. Orderinchaos 14:56, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok, thank you. I agree. This article is no where close to being Featured Article status and that is why I submitted it for a peer review (see above). Thank you for bringing this up though and removing the notice.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:34, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
No worries - good luck with the peer review! :) Orderinchaos 07:48, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

MCR Collaboration of the Week

I've been thinking, this project hasn't really gotten out and done too much since the beginning and was thinking over having possible an MCR Collaboration of the Week or Month or something. This way we can focus on one article, improving it and setting a goal to reach for that article for that week or month. Just wondering what everyone feels about it. If people are willing to help out and do it then I will be willing to set everything up for it and get it started. It would be a nomination process each week or month. Just need to know if we're going to do it weekly or monthly or if we want to do it at all. But I think we really need to do something and be a project and get out and edit and improve MCR articles as a project and not just little edits alone.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Pictures of Band Memmbers in Uniforms?

What do people think about, instead of having different pictures for everyone, we put up the ones where their in their uniforms? Gerard Way had said somewhere that the uniforms help to untie them as a band.. I think it would look nice for the overall band profiles and than there wouldn't be such silly, casual pictures of them up.(Aspen Coles 16:24, 6 April 2007 (UTC))

We need to find images though that are fair use and that has been the issue. That is really the main issue there is a lack of pictures throughout the articles.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:31, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Articles for Every Song?

I recall that all of those pages were successfully AfD'd. Perhaps we should remove that from our list of goals? --Moralis (talk) 05:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. I just removed it. – Zntrip 05:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Taste of Chaos Tour 2005

I found this on Amazon.com. It’s a bunch of videos of the 2005 Taste of Chaos Tour, including some featuring My Chemical Romance. It is ordered via Amazon Unbox. I was woundering if this should be added to the disography page and (if it were to be added) were it would be added. – Zntrip 23:54, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Well it might either be in the DVDs section or Other Appearances. Since it isn't only them probably Other Appearances section. And since we have less notable albums and EPs might as well add it.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I think what I’ll do is this: I’ll change the “other album appearances” secion into “other appearances” and add two sub-sections called “albums” and “videos” and just put it under videos. – Zntrip 00:20, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Ok, cool, sounds good to me.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 01:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Astro Zombies EP

I found this article: Astro Zombies EP. I can’t find anything on the Internet about it and therefore have resone to belive that someone is just making this up. – Zntrip 05:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

By the way, User:Vivalaandre is the user that created the page. – Zntrip 05:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I also can't find anything about it. It doesn't appear in any discography I can find, or the iTunes store, for what that's worth. I'm nominating it for speedy deletion. --Moralis (talk) 05:44, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Astro Zombies is a song by them, but an EP..I don't believe so. TeamOverload 20:34, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

My Way Home Is Through You

It says on the wikiproject page "Possibly create "My Way Home is Through You" article". It is crossed out, and under the closed tasks list, but the page does not exist. What's happened with it? The chicken lady 12:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I haven't investigated the issue yet (I will when I'm done reviewing my watchlist) but I'd assume it was deleted along with most of the MyChem song articles. --Moralis (talk) 17:32, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it was deleted before due to notability issue along with the rest of the songs off of The Black Parade.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 18:19, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Article Assessment

We can now assess our artcles under the WikiProject. I have edited the template at Template:WikiProject My Chemical Romance. I included a picture that was fair use of the black parade that confirmed The Black Parade album. To assess articles if you do not know please include the template on the talk page of an MCR related article with {{WikiProject My Chemical Romance|class=}} where it says "class=" please add what you believe the article to be under the assessment scale. Please be sure to review the scale before adding your assessment and please keep in mind that you must nominate featured articles and good articles. Of course all this information is for people who are not aware of how this works. Also, if a better picture or something is found or someone wants to edit the template please feel free to but please keep the assessment scale in, thank you!  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:16, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Revamp

I have been adding multiple things for this WikiProject and helping put it through a revamp sort of thing. I have added the Article Assessment Department which was created to help be a collection of our assessment information. Also I have moved the member list and added a sidebar for the WikiProject with some suggested pages we should create. I moved the member list as it was getting quite long. Everyone is still there but a majority of the people are inactive and I don't see too many discussions on this page almost making the project inactive. I think as a project we need to band together and make our contributions known and act as a project. That is why I added a departments section. We can create an Outreach Department to help recruit new members and create Newsletters to help keep everyone up to date. Also as suggested above we can have an My Chemical Romance Collaboration of the Month which can help us concentrate bringing up those B-Class Articles to Good Articles or Stub Articles to B-Class or something like that. Also I would suggest creating a Portal as well as a News page for WikiProject news and a Guidelines page for guidelines in creating new articles for the project. While my ideas may be big most of us have joined because we like My Chemical Romance, so why should they not deserve some Featured Articles? I think this project can be very successful and but I of course do not want to do it alone and I would like to have everyone's imput on ther project and where we should go with it.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:36, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

While I didn't join Wikipedia for the purpose of My Chemical Romance-related editing, it's become one of my main interests nonetheless =P I'm spending more time than is perhaps fair focusing on my RfA and MedCab cases at the moment, but as soon as I feel less hampered, I'll see where I can help out. --Moralis (talk) 23:46, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
That is of course all that anyone can ask, however as a project I don't feel that we have any notable contributions to our name. No Good Articles or Featured Articles. And that is just my main reason for this discussion. I think we need to have some organization and actually concentrate on fixing up MCR related articles. While the discussion isn't directed upon you personally it'd be helpful to get some free active members working on making this project into something big and having notable contributions. I think the main thing is organization which is why I suggested to create more pages and more departments and get members assigned to specific tasks instead of just running around. While this is getting work done I think if we organize ourselves a bit more we can accomplish more.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 23:54, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Orfen in that we should have a newsletter. Maybe we could also have an article improvement drive or something like it. mcr616 Speak! 00:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I'd like to help out w/ the newsletter and CotM. icelandic hurricane #12 (talk) 00:58, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I understand what you're saying here. I think we need a lot more to show for the work we do. Lately I haven't been doing much work on MCR related articles because reverting vandalism is a minute by minute thing on the Green Day articles. It gets tiresome, you know what I mean? I would definitely participate in any documentation. I've been editor and editor in chief of many newsletters, zines, and other periodicals, so I would enjoy writing assessments or motivational essays on the articles. I could also document rumours and frequent vandals and the like. There are a lot of things I could commit to do. Just let me know what no one else wants to do and I'll pick up the slack!--JUDE talk 04:30, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

As we all seem to be in agreement that something needs to be done, I think we should pick what we would like to do. Of course multiple people can do the same thing. As I have no idea on how to create a newsletter I would suggest someone else take that up along with any other outreach aspects, the community aspect. I am probably going to work on the CotM, News, and Guidelines. A newsletter would be helpful in letting all the members know what needs to be done. Also, I think Jude's idea of documentation would be rather helpful and if you would like to start that maybe try it at a page such as Wikipedia:WikiProject My Chemical Romance/Documentation or something of the like when you are ready. We can then add that to the sidebar. I can offer any assisstence needed on something such as a Portal or the Outreach/Newsletter things but I will probably focus on the other aspects for now and keep updating my progress here.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:53, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you Orfen! I will get to work on that documentation page asap. I put that I'm taking a wikibreak on my userinfo and usertalk but working on that one thing might actually help keep my mind busy. I'll work on that one, but otherwise I'm on a slight break due to the death of a very dear friend.--JUDE talk 04:38, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
I'll help out with the newsletter. mcr616 Speak! 17:41, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
I am not sure how exactly to start a newsletter. I'm pretty sure there is a way to use a bot and it would be tiresome manually. Are you thinking of doing a monthly newsletter? Quarterly? Weekly? Just wondering out of curiosity really. But Icelandic Hurricane expressed an interest as well so perhaps you two can get together and work on that?  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Well since I find myself posting on Icelandic Hurricane's talk page a lot, I noticed that every once in a while there's a newsletter from WikiProject Narnia, so I figured we could maybe borrow the source code for the bot from whoever runs that project's news section. After we get the bot up and running, it should be easy to do the newsletter. I figured we'd send one out every month, just to keep everyone in the project informed. mcr616 Speak! 21:38, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Borrowing... Sounds like a good plan. But the monthly idea sounds good. You can probably post it in the page in the sidebar whenever you want to work on it. Do you plan on working on the Outreach Department sort of thing too?  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 21:42, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Outreach ? mcr616 Speak! 22:30, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Okey doke. I'll start it up. mcr616 Speak! 23:45, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

I have marked this article as proposed for deletion. It is almost entirely original research. While most of us are relatively secure in the idea that Teenagers will be the next single, there are no sources that actually STATE that Teenagers will be the next single. We need an announcement from MCR or their representatives or we can't claim that we know what the next single is going to be- even if ten fansites give us release dates. Someone's undoubtedly going to point to that picture of Gerard with those cheerleaders as a better source. Please keep in mind that My Chemical Romance has not stated that it's a picture from the video shoot for Teenagers. While common sense might indicate, for a fan, that that's what we're looking at, there's no actual proof for a casual reader. We must wait for an official announcement or an actual release of the single. --Moralis (talk) 19:29, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

It's on the My Chemical Romance website [7] so I think that's pretty solid proof it's going to be a single, as only the singles are on there. People attending the video shoot have also agreed this, and there's dates for the song to be released to radio... So it's notable now. The original research will have to go, but we can work on that. What does everyone think of the images in the infobox, under the singles chronology? There is no reason to illustrate (as in fair use of the image) the single and having a picture twice (the article’s picture in the chronology) is excessive at best. No, and I will now also be on the look out for these images and will also remove them if I see them.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 00:28, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

MCRCotM for the month of June

The My Chemical Romance Collaboration of the Month has been decided. My Chemical Romance will be the current collaboration for the month of June. When nominated the goal was set to try and get this article to a Good Article so we should all focus our attention onto this article and help improve in to Good Article status and more. Thanks to everyone that voted and please nominate and vote for next months collaboration here. Also this one was decided a little later than previously expected due to Alternative music WikiProject collaboration.  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 17:32, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

My Chemical Romance Wiki

I have created a My Chemical Romance Wiki at Wikia. If you can add anything, please do. – Zntrip 20:47, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Zephead999

He is constantly editing the main article to say that MCR is emo, based on the fact that most people claim it to be emo. I have tried to reason that that does not detemine the musical style, but he refuses to be civil about the issue. He is suspected to be a sockpuppet. Just asking for some other people to get on the issue. Zazaban 01:18, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

i just checked his page, apparently hes been blocked, should keep him away for a while.Dizzydark 03:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

What do you all thing of this article? I have mixed feelings about it. – Zntrip 19:57, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Portal?

Portal:My Chemical Romance is really, really ugly. Please, either redesign it, or start from scratch. Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 08:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Restructure and write article

I've been dabbling in a lot of discographies lately and have taken some liberties in re-ordering the discography here to be more compliant with the others in affiliation with WP:ALBUM. I've added the infobox and ordered the sections according to that. I've also redone the singles table. I think the albums all need to be reformatted, but chart positions are almost absolutely essential for the albums table. I know most of you guys here probably don't like this music, but have a look at this discography article that I've been working and you'll see the kind of album table and chart structure I'm talking; it's pretty much just the same as the singles table, but I'm keen to list the certifications as well. Is anybody interested in giving me a hand with this, or am I on my own here? --lincalinca 12:20, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! References

I've cited a couple of sources, one on the MCR page about Gerard calling emo a pile of shit, and also on the Bob Bryar page about Frank talking about Bob. I also deleted a piece of info on the Frank Iero page, which needed a citation, because of false info. Grungedude22 (talk) 12:00, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Wasn't Gerard calling emo a pile of shit already cited multiple times?  Orfen  TC 20:01, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
That's what I thought, but it had [citation needed] next to it, so yeah. Grungedude22 (talk) 11:01, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I just found the reason why. It's mentioned twice in the article, once in Musical Style & Influences and once in Criticisms, the one that 'needed a citatation' was in Musical Style & Influences. Which do you think fits it best, or shall we leave both in? Grungedude22 (talk) 11:05, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for My Chemical Romance

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:05, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Task force merger

I propose turning this project into a task force of either WikiProject Punk music or WikiProject Emo. The rationales for this are:

  1. The scope is too narrow to warrant the administrative overhead of a full project. The WikiProject Council guide recommends that if a project might only ever have a few dozen articles and a handful of members, a task force is a much more suitable alternative. The topic of My Chemical Romance has only 31 in its scope and isn't likely to ever have more than a few dozen. The project has been inactive for at least 6 months, and many of its members are inactive.
  2. The task force could benefit from using the parent project's administrative infrastructure, which is already in place. These include assessment scales, categories, etc. The project does not really merit its own assessment scale or categories as, again, it's only ever likely to cover a couple dozen articles at best.
  3. Becoming a task force would encourage members of the parent project to join the task force, thus spurring activity in the most critical area: actual article editing.

In general, full WikiProjects dedicated to a single musical artist/act almost always die of administrative overload. A vast majority of artist-specific Wikiprojects peter out and become inactive; a task force of a larger parent project is a much more suitable means of encouraging editor collaboration around artist-specific article families. Please voice your opinion below, and if there are no objections within a couple of weeks I will go ahead with a task force merger. --IllaZilla (talk) 00:52, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Since it has been over 2 weeks with no objections, I'm going to go ahead with converting this project into a task force of WP:EMO. --IllaZilla (talk) 03:50, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Does your WikiProject care about talk pages of redirects?

Does your project care about what happens to the talk pages of articles that have been replaced with redirects? If so, please provide your input at User:Mikaey/Request for Input/ListasBot 3. Thanks, Matt (talk) 02:09, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

WP 1.0 bot announcement

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:38, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

My Chemical Romance articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the My Chemical Romance articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Move to own WikiProject page.

The moving of WikiProject My Chemical Romance to it's own WikiProject page. MCR's singer Gerard Way does not see MCR as an emo band, as a matter of fact, he condemns the description. See this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hallows AG (talkcontribs) 09:51, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

The "MCR isn't emo!" business is a very old, tired topic. It makes no difference whatsoever what Way thinks: Numerous reliable, third-party sources have described the band as emo and placed them within that style. Ultimately this has no bearing on whether this should be a stand-alone project or not: The only thing that does matter is whether the topic area of MCR is broad enough to warrant a stand-alone project, and whether there is enough active editor interest to keep it going. It's not and there isn't. That's why this project went inactive very shortly after being launched, and why it was instead transformed into a task force of WP:EMO, the most relevant parent project. Your opinion about the band's genre is irrelevant in this regard. You may want to read the Wikiproject council guide for advice on Wikiprojects and task forces. --IllaZilla (talk) 14:16, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
