"Good Day" is a song by South Korean boy band BoyNextDoor, set to be released on July 10, 2024, through Universal Music Japan. The group's first Japanese-language release, "Good Day" is set to be released as a maxi single titled And featuring Japanese re-recordings of select tracks from Who! (2023), Why.. (2023), and How? (2024).

Background[edit]

BoyNextDoor debuted in 2023 with the single album Who!, which was followed by the extended plays Why..and How? as part of a "first love trilogy".[1][2][3] The band achieved steady commercial success in Japan with the three releases, culminating with How? debuting at number one at the Oricon Albums Chart.[4] On May 6, 2024, KOZ Entertainment announced that BoyNextDoor will debut in Japan with the release of their debut Japanese single And.[5]

Music and lyrics[edit]

The maxi single consists of three additional tracks in addition to "Good Day" – the Japanese re-recordings of "One and Only", "But Sometimes" and "Earth, Wind & Fire".[6][7]

Release and promotion[edit]

"Good Day" will be released on July 10, 2024, as the group's first Japanese-language maxi single with the title And.[5] The Japanese re-recording of "Earth, Wind & Fire" was released as a promotional single on June 19, ahead of the single's release.[8] Pre-orders for the physical single began on May 8.[9]

BoyNextDoor began promotional activities for "Good Day" on June 19, with a surprise appearance at a listening party held at the Club Quattro in Shibuya, Tokyo, where the single's title was announced and the Japanese version of "Earth, Wind & Fire" was performed.[10][11] The band previously opened a photo exhibit on June 14 in collaboration with the retail chain Parco.[12] The single's release will be accompanied by a showcase held in Japan.[13][14]

Concept photos were released in the run-up to the single's release.[15] For the "syouyo" (逍遥, lit.'walking') concept, the images depict the members aimlessly wandering the streets of Japan as they share personal stories.[16][17] In the "yakou" (逍遥, lit.'night train') concept photos, the members are depicted running around in a Japanese train station and entering a convenience store.[18][19]
