Redemptorist station, also known as Redemptorist–Aseana station,[1] is an under-construction Light Rail Transit (LRT) station located on the LRT Line 1 (LRT-1) system in Parañaque.[2] It is part of the Line 1 South Extension Project. The station would be the northernmost of the extension. It would be the twenty-second station from the northern terminus at Common Station. It would be built in Aseana City in Barangay Baclaran and would be named after the nearby Redemptorist Road.
History
[edit]Redemptorist station was first planned as part of the Line 1 South Extension plan, which calls for a mostly elevated extension of approximately 11.7 kilometers (7.3 mi). The extension will have eight passenger stations with an option for two future stations (Manuyo Uno and Talaba).[3] The project was first approved on August 25, 2000 and the implementing agreement for the project was approved on January 22, 2002.[4] However, construction for the extension was repeatedly delayed until the project was shelved years later.
The plans for the southern extension project were restarted as early as 2012 during the Aquino administration and was expected to begin construction in 2014, but was delayed due to right of way issues. The issues were resolved in 2016 and the project broke ground on May 4, 2017.[5] Meanwhile, construction works on the south extension began on May 7, 2019 after the right-of-way acquisitions were cleared.[4]
As of 30 April 2024[update], the Phase 1 is 98.2% complete.The Phase 1 of the extension (from Redemptorist station to Dr. Santos station) is slated to be operational by October 2024, with full operations by 2031.

[edit]When completed, the station will be adjacent to Baclaran Church, Seaside Market Baclaran, S&R Membership Shopping - Aseana, Department of Foreign Affairs Office of Consular Affairs, Parqal Mall, Singapore School of Manila, and other office buildings and hotels in Aseana City.
