BSW Saxony

BSW Saxony is the state organisation of the German party Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht in Saxony. In the state elections on September 22, 2024, the BSW achieved 11.8 percent and 15 seats.

History

The Saxony state association of the BSW was the first state organisation of the party and was founded on February 24, 2024.[1] According to the wishes of the party's founder, Wagenknecht, the Saxon regional association is led by a dual leadership. At the founding party conference, the former Left Bundestag member Sabine Zimmermann and the entrepreneur Jörg Scheibe were elected as chairmen.[2]

The Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) ran for the state elections in Saxony 2024 with a state list of 30 candidates. In the state elections, the BSW received 11.8 percent of the vote, which means 15 seats.[3]

At least three of the 15 MPs are former federal or state politicians from The Left who defected to the BSW. There are also four experienced volunteer local politicians.[3]
