Aegon VI Targaryen is a fictional character in the A Song of Ice and Fire series of epic fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin. He is a member of House Targaryen and the heir to the Seven Kingdoms. Aegon is first mentioned in A Game of Thrones (1996) and first appears in A Dance with Dragons (2011). The character also set to appear in the forthcoming The Winds of Winter (TBA).

Aegon is the second child and only son of Rhaegar Targaryen and his wife, Elia Martell. Following the deaths of Rhaegar Targaryen and his father, King Aerys II, King's Landing is sacked by the rebel forces. At the conclusion of Robert's Rebellion, Tywin Lannister dispatches his banner-men to eliminate the heirs to the Iron Throne, Rhaenys and Aegon Targaryen, the former murdered by Ser Amory Lorch, and the latter murdered by Ser Gregor Clegane along with his mother, Elia Martell. It is not until the fifth book, A Dance with Dragons that it is revealed that the child was swapped before the sack, and is currently vying to place himself on the Iron Throne.
