Hoda Hadadi[1][2][3] (February 2, 1977 Tehran) is an Iranian illustrator, author and poet[4]. Her literary and visual works often support eco-feminism, featuring women as the narrators and heroes[5] of their life stories. She delves into the lost narrators or forgotten narratives[6][7] of women and their relationship with nature. She is particularly known for her collage technique in her visual artworks, especially her use of transparent silk paper.[8]

Kooti Kooti[9][10] (in Farsi  کوتی کوتی[11]) is a popular character among Iranian children who is a blue centipede was created with blue paper and illustrated by her.

Biography[edit]

Hadadi was three years old at the start of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and when she was five, the Iran-Iraq War began, lasting for eight years. Her drawings featured only girls, women, and nature, with no trace of war or ideology.[citation needed] At the age of ten, she started writing poems inspired by Ferdowsi's Shahnameh (The Book of Kings). Her professional career began at the age of nineteen with publications in children's magazines. To date, many books have been published by her in Iran,[12][13] the United States[14] Denmark,[15][16] and France.[17]

Awards[edit]

In 2018, Hadadi received five stars from the Danish newspaper Politiken[18] for writing and illustrating the book "The Mountain That Wanted to Travel" (Bjerget der ville rejse).[19]
