Jamal Hakim (born 1984) is an Australian politician, entrepreneur and executive currently serving as a Councillor at the City of Melbourne. Jamal was elected in 2020[1][2], and is the lead for the Creative Melbourne Portfolio, Deputy Lead for the City Activation, and the Health, Wellbeing and Belonging Portfolios.[3] Jamal is the CEO and founder of Hakim Consulting, and was previously CEO of MSI Australia. He is the co-chair of Democracy in Colour, and held positions on the boards of Midsumma Festival, MSI Papua New Guinea, and MS Health Pty Ltd.
Jamal hold a bachelor of Commerce and a bachelor of Asian Studies from the Australian National University, and a Juris Doctor from RMIT. He is a member of CPA and a AICD.
Jamal announced he is running for Lord Mayor of Melbourne on 2 August 2024.[4][5]
