Freedom Struggle[edit]

A speech of Bose inspired Hamza and his brother to join the INA. Hamza's father however did not want him to serve in the Indian National Army out of affection. Knowing this, Bose brought Hamza and his father and emphasized the need for the country to achieve independence. He subsequently allowed him to join and gave Bose a cheque worth two lakhs and thirty thousand.[6]

Hamza was arrested and interrogated by the British authorities for aiding and abetting INA. After the war, the family stayed in Burma and returned to India in the 1960’s repatriation of Burmese refugees.

Death[edit]

Ameer Hamza died in 2016.[7][8]
