Matthew Alec Tieman is a popular music and jazz saxophonist.

Biography[edit]

Matthew Alec is founder and Executive Producer at Cleveland Time Records.[1]. He is bandleader for the high-energy jazz fusion group Matthew Alec and The Soul Electric[2][3] and a founding member of “Cleveland’s Best Original Band[4]” "Winslow"[5].

“Cleveland’s Best Horn Player" is nomination that Matthew recieved by Cleveland Scene Magazine in 2009[6]. He has performed for over 20 years and holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from Kent State University[6].

Album Cleavlend Time[7] charted for several weeks on the NACC Jazz Radio Chart, peaking at #13[8].

Matthew is sponsored by "RS Berkeley saxophones"," DeJacques saxophone straps"[9], and "Remic Microphones"[10]

Matthew has performed with former Saturday Night Live Musical Director, CBS Orchestra member, and Blues Brothers bandsman Tom “Bones” Malone[11], Saturday Night Live trombonist Steve Turre, Kenny G bassist Vail Johnson, Grammy-winning Ohio Players alumni Billy Beck, Parliament-Funkadelic bassist Ben Powers, Jr.

He has recorded with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Parliament-Funkadelic and Talking Heads member Bernie Worrell and aforementioned Tom “Bones” Malone.

He has toured nationally and has opened for several A-list acts including Earth, Wind, and Fire, Incubus, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Keane, Average White Band, Lupe Fiasco, OAR, Ozomatli, Bret Michaels, Rusted Root, and others.
