The Gram Panchayat of Nagarukhra Gram Panchayat[1] (abbreviated as NGP), is a government office and local self-government body that governs the villages of Nagarukhra - I and Nagarukhra - II GP under the Panchayat Samity constituencies in Haringhata Development Block of District Nadia (South) in the state of West Bengal, India.This GP area is under control of the Nagarukhra police station that serves this panchayat area along with other nearby villages, with its headquarters in Nagarukhra.

Nagarukhra I Gram Panchayat is located (22°56′28″N 88°38′00″E / 22.941039°N 88.633452°E / 22.941039; 88.633452) at Rabidra Sadan, 2No. Panchayat office Lane, Nagarukhra sadar and Nagarukhra II Gram Panchayat is located at (22°54′07″N 88°38′50″E / 22.901998°N 88.647179°E / 22.901998; 88.647179) Habra Road, Jhikra, Nagarukhra village of Haringhata Development Block in Nadia district.

History

The Nagarukhra Gram Panchayat had panchayati raj power held by Government of West Bengal since 1975 under Panchayati raj (India). This panchayat is administrated by Haringhata Community Development Block,[2] under Kalyani subdivision in Nadia district.

Administration

Nagarukhra Gram Panchayat has jurisdiction over Nagarukhra 1 and 2 regions, which is spread over North to South and East side from the centre. Sharing boundaries with North 24 pgs district's development blocks like, Gaighata Community development block in the east, Bangaon Dakshin in the north-east, Habra I development block and Habra II development block in the south and south-west [4]. Nagarukhra is situated near the boundary of Nadia district and North 24 parganas.

Nagarukhra has a delivery sub post office, with Postal Index Number 741257 in the South Presidency Division of Nadia district in Kolkata region. The other post offices with the same PIN is Dighalgram, Haripukuria, Kasthodanga, Mahadebpur, Nimtala bazar.[5]

Demographics

As of 2021 India census, Nagarukhra (sadar) had a population of 22,409, and overall area (Nagarukhra GP I-II) had a population of 49,922, comprising 26,052 males[6] and 23,869 females[7]. Nagarukhra has an average literacy rate of 83.91%, with 1,309 (9.66%) of the population between 0–6 years of age.[8][9]
