Nathaneil R. Peet (born April 5, 1996), better known by his stage name R.J. Knightly, is an American Entrepreneur, Musician, and Writer.

Early life[edit]

Nathaneil Peet was born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania on April 5, 1996, to parents Robert J. Peet (1965-2022), a Carpenter and Musician, and Tonya L. Tilton (1975-present), a homemaker. Peet began showing interest in music from a young age. When he was 12 years old, he received his first musical instrument from his father, his bass guitar which he used live. He went to Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School (P.A.V.C.S.)and graduated in 2014.

He has an older sister from his father's previous marriage, and two younger brothers, Andrew (1998-2011) and Joshua. He is of English and German descent.

Growing up, Peet had a fundamentalist Seventh-Day Adventist upbringing. When he was younger, his family was very active in the church and held regular attendance in the community youth groups. A proponent of homeschooling, Peet was homeschooled from 4th grade until his high school graduation.

Before his musical career, Peet worked as a Design Coordinator for the county's local packaging company.

After graduating from high school, Peet enrolled in Penn Foster College for a degree in Business Management. However, with his main interest being in music, he eventually pursued a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration on the Music Industry.

Music Career[edit]

Peet's musical journey began when he was in high school. It was during this time he developed a basic knowledge of music theory and how to play the piano. At the age of 12, Peet received his first instrument, the bass guitar that his father used when he performed. During this time, Peet also converted the family basement into a practice space and amateur studio. Dubbed the Cobra den, Peet would often spend up to 8 hours a day practicing.

Peet credits both his father and uncle as the driving force behind his music career. "My uncle is the one who got me interested in the Electric Guitar. He was a classic rock fan who liked Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Megadeth, and various Southern Rock Bands. My dad was a classic rock fan as well, but he leaned more toward groups such as Rush, Queensryche, Scorpions, Dokken, Dio, 38 Special, and Blackfoot."

Business Career[edit]

Firefighter Career[edit]

In 2021, Peet enrolled in Knoxville's local Volunteer Fire Company. During this time, he obtained certifications in ICS-100, ICS-700, TIMS (Traffic Incident Management Systems), Hazmat awareness, and Basic Ropes and Rigging.

Equipment Used[edit]

Although considered unconventional, Peet has been fairly consistent with his music equipment, opting for cheaper, more affordable equipment. "I believe that it's important to develop a good relationship with independent companies who offer more affordable products. At one time your brands such as Gibson and Fender were reflective of that, and therefore, I'd like to capitalize on that."
