Small Leaks Sink Ships is an American indie rock band formed in 2006 in Portland, Oregon, Known or their electric musical style and poetic lyrics.

History[edit]

Small Leaks Sink Ships was founded by London VanRooy, Ryan Garner, Judd Hancock and Jim Mandel and Jim Mandel.[1]The bands unique name is derived from World War II propaganda poster featuring a sinking ship,[2] symbolizing the idea that small leaks can lead to significant consequences.

This band released their debut album, "Until The World Is Happy: Wake Up You Sleepy Head Sun."[3] In 2006, showing their blend of indie rock, post-rock and experimental rock. Small Leaks Sink Ships continued to refine their style with subsequent releases including "Oak Street Basement" (2010) and Face Yourself and Remove Your Sandals."[4] (2004)

In 2017, the band released their critically acclaimed album, "Golden Calf."[5] This album marked a significant evolution in their sound, incorporating intricate arrangements, ambient textures and deeply introspective lyrics as well as a new found art pop structure.[5]
