Notability

Here are some comments on notability of Duane McRuer as requested.

1. The Wikipedia guidelines for notability of academics indicate that scientists or engineers elected to prestigious scholarly societies such as the National Academies are notable (Wikipedia:Notability_(academics)). McRuer was elected to the National Academy of Engineering (National Academy of Engineering. "Mr. Duane T. McRuer".), and was an elected fellow of the AIAA, SAE, and IEEE.

2. McRuer had a significant impact on the area of vehicle controls (aircraft, automobiles, spacecraft, etc) and human machine interaction. Multiple review articles on pilot control of aircraft and human-machine interaction describe McRuer's work as foundational in the field, and compare more recent advances in relation to it.
