English: "Lady Flora's" This fine building in Newmilns is a memorial to Lady Flora, a lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria. Despite her protestations, Lady Flora was disgraced and banished from court for being unmarried and pregnant. After the event it transpired that the lady's tummy bulge was caused by an internal growth and not a baby. A financial settlement was made to Lady Flora and this fine building (raised in 1875 as Lady Flora's School)is today's evidence.
