Notes: Photograph possibly shows teacher Carrie Lining Moore who taught at the Laing School in Charleston, South Carolina from 1876 to about 1879 before marrying and moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Title devised by Library staff. Date based on year Barnard opened his studio at 263 King Street, Charleston, S.C. DLC "Carrie Lining" written on photograph below the image. DLC "Charleston, S.C."--written on the bottom of the photograph mount. DLC Photograph is housed in an album. Album page has decorative gold borders framing the print. DLC Please use the digital image in the online catalog to preserve the original photograph. Collection of the Library of Congress and the National Museum of African American History & Culture. Purchased by the Library of Congress and the National Museum of African American History and Culture; Swann Galleries; 2017. Formerly owned by Emily Howland.
