Description

Ball-and-stick model of the 1-fluorohexane molecule, C6H13F.

Colour code:

Carbon, C: grey-black
Hydrogen, H: white
Fluorine, F: yellow-green

This image is not based on an experimental structure determination, but a search of the CSD for 1-fluoroalkyl groups returned crystal structures with a variety of fluoroalkyl conformations. The conformation chosen here is one in which the atoms C3–C2–C1–F are all coplanar, with C3–C2 and C1–F bonds antiperiplanar.
