Schöpfer des Kupferstiches/der Radierung ist der Stecher Johann Christian Gottfried Fritzsch, der das Bildnis nach dem Ableben des Dargestellten im Jahr 1793 nach einer ebenfalls posthum entstandenen Vorlage des Malers Heinrich Anton Dähling stach. Dabei stellt sich die Frage, ob der Maler das Porträt aus persönlicher Erinnerung an den Verblichenen oder nach einem schon zu Lebzeiten von Köppen (1755–1791) gefertigten Porträt neu ausfertigte. Verleger des 1793 als Frontispiz für die Allgemeine deutsche Bibliothek 115. Band, erstes Stück vervielfältigten Bildnisses war der in Kiel tätige Carl Ernst Bohn. |
