The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911.
A mid sized car, the Chevelle was introduced in 1964. The second generation was introduced in 1968, a long bonnet, short deck look, the Sports Coupe getting a semi fastback roofline. It got a mild facelift in 1969; a single chrome bar connected quad headlights, and a slotted bumper held the parking lights. The El Camino Coupe Utility was Chevelle based from 1964.
Base model was the Chevelle 2 door Sport Coupe
Mid spec was the 300 Deluxe; 2 door Coupe, 2 or 4 door Sedans and 4 door Nomad Wagon.
The upmarket model was the Chevelle Malibu; 2 door Hardtop, Convertible, 4 door Hardtop, Sedan and Wagon
The Chevelle SS396, the performance model, available in 2 door Sports Coupe, Hardtop or Convertible, stiffer suspension, power domed hood, black grille, bucket seats and console.
The El Camino Coupe Utility; base, Custom or SS396
Engines; 120hp 194 ad 155hp 230 cu in 6 cyl, 195hp 283 V8, 250, 300 and 325hp 327 V8, 350hp 396 cu in V8 (only on SS)
Also available in 1969 was the full size Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala and Caprice, the C3 Corvette Sports car, the rear engine Corvair, the compact Chevy II (Nova) and the Camaro Pony Car
