Description

American Motors Corporation (AMC), 1954-88, was formed from the merger of Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company. The Hornet was a compact car built in the US by AMC from 1969-77, replacing the Rambler American, variations were also built in Mexico and Australia. In Australia (by Australian Motor Industries) it was sold as the Rambler Hornet, only a 4 door version was sold there from 1970-75. Engine; 232 or 258 cu in 6 cyl In the US, in 1973, the Hornet was available in 2 door Hatchback, Sedan, 4 door Sedan and Wagon, in base and upmarket SST. Also built by AMC in 1975 was; Introduced in 1975, the AMC Pacer 2 door Hatchback The subcompact Gremlin 2 door Sedan. The midsize Matador in 2 door Coupe, 4 door Sedan and Wagon

The Javelin 2 door Hardtop was the 'Pony' car, available in base and high performance AMX
