English: Retired Navy Legalman 1st Class Shahnaz Askins prepares to fire her rifle during the first day of competition for the 2014 Wound Warrior Team Navy Trials in the gym on board Naval Station Norfolk June 4. The San Diego native and 1995 graduate of Ontario High School is also participating in archery, swimming, track and field and pistol. Wounded Warrior athletes began arriving in Norfolk on May 31 and are finishing June 7. The Navy Trials are a precursor to the Warrior Games, an annual athletic competition hosted by the U.S. Olympic Committee that brings together more than 200 wounded warriors from all branches of military service.
