Description23rd OVI Memorial - Woodland Cemetery.jpg
English: The 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Memorial at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. The memorial was designed by Cleveland sculptor C.H. Brown, and manufactured by the Cleveland firm of Myers, Uhl, & Co.
The monument consists of two stepped concrete bases, a concrete plinth, a short square concrete column, a marble plinth in the form of a pediment, two stepped bases, and an obelisk topped by a carved shroud. The short concrete column is inscribed with the names of members of the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry who died in the American Civil War.
The monument was dedicated on July 28, 1865. It is probably the first regimental monument ever erected in the United States.
