Description

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the w:32nd Infantry Brigade (United States).

Description
  • On a green rectangle 1-5/8 inches (4.13cm) in width and 3-5/8 inches (9.21cm) in height, a red arrow 3 1/4 inches (8.26cm) in length "having shot through a line," the line being 1 1/4 inches (3.18cm) in width.
Symbolism
  • The arrow with the line was chosen by the 32d Division predecessor of the 32d Infantry Brigade, during World War I because the division "shot through every line the Boche put before them."
Background
  • The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 32d Division on 11 Nov 1918. It was redesignated for the 32d Infantry Division on 24 Jul 1964. The insignia was redesignated to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 32d Infantry Brigade on 17 May 1968. On 19 Feb 1969 it was amended to delete the words "Headquarters and Headquarters Company. On 18 Mar 1986 the shoulder sleeve insignia was updated to supplement the description and to add the symbolism. The insignia was cancelled on 1 April 1998. It was reinstated with the description updated, effective 1 September 2003.
