Summary

Description

Only two 4-4-0s of the C8 class were built, they were also the last GER locomotives to be produced to the design of S.W. Johnson. Both were built at Stratford in 1874 and given running numbers of 301 and 302. In 1878 they had been renumbered 305 and 306, and they finished their careers as pilot engines - one at Liverpool Street, and the other at Tottenham, for the St. Pancras traffic. They were withdrawn in 1897-98.

This photo was taken from an old original photo we came across while helping to clear the house of a deceased friend. I have uploaded it to Flickr in the hope that it might be interesting to steam enthusiasts.
