Description
English: A group of students in the Club Room at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School. Jean Pearson measures Sam Atyeo who is dressed in a monkey costume. Joyce Hellas (Mrs Jones) is in an elephant costume helped by Marjorie Biddle. Alison Jones works on a cow created by Hector McDonald (son of J.S.McDonald [MacDonald?]). Others present are Edith Moore in the centre and Pascoe (Pat) Redwood on the left. Comments: The National Gallery of Victoria Art School, associated with the National Gallery of Victoria, was started in 1870. Located in La Trobe Street Melbourne, behind the State Library, it was the leading centre for academic art training in Australia. Inscription: Names as listed in the description are written in ink on the back of the photograph.
