Description: Akbar's general informs him of the conquest of Bengal in 1576, folio from the History of Akbar (Akbarnama) by Abu’l-Fazl. Detached folio, ink, pigments and gold on paper, Persian text with full-page painting inscribed to `Inayat Khanazad, Agra, India, c. 1603-1605. This is one of fifty-eight folios now detached from its codex (Chester Beatty In 03). Extensively illustrated, these form volume two and part of volume three of the biography of the Mughal emperor Akbar (r. 1556-1605), composed by his court historian and minister Abu’l-Fazl `Allami.
