English: Ault Hucknall War Memorial (Stainsby, along with Astwith, is part of the Ault Hucknall Parish)
The road crossing the photograph behind the memorial is an unnamed¹ road linking 598685 and the old Mill Lane (both to the immediate left) with the 597657 (to the right). The building of the M1 Motorway effectively cut the village of Stainsby in two. The war memorial, mill and some farms are on this side of the motorway. Whilst the main part of the village is to the right (westerly) on the other side of the motorway. The building of the motorway also created two Mill Lanes. The original, severed, lane is to the left (easterly) and the new alignment is to the right (easterly). The memorial carries a dedication for both World Wars. THE GLORIOUS DEAD 1914-1918 PTE. F.
