Summary

Description
English: BRUTEs (British Rail Universal Trolley Equipment) were introduced to handle parcels at British Railways stations and parcels depots in the 1960s. They could be coupled as a train to be pulled by electric tractors and had pockets to enable them to be lifted safely by forklift trucks. Most have now been cut up for scrap as parcels are no longer handled in this way, but these six have been put to further use at Newton Abbot market in Devon, England. They are still painted in Rail Blue but no longer have the tips of their brake handles painted yellow. Note that the third from the right has a reduced height and no sides to allow it to carry 'out of gauge' loads.
