The photo was taken by Charles M. Conlon at the direction of Babe's new agent Christie Walsh on his arrival in New York, Irwin, La Broad, & Purdin was a promotion agency not a photo studio.
Christy "borrowed" $1,000 from a friend to give to the Babe to provide proof of the value of Christie as his agent and this cash propelled Christy to secure contracts for Babe as picture/word promoter for almost every class of product from 1920-1935.
