Description
English: This is a reprint of Balthasar Florisz. van Berckenrode's map of Amsterdam, which was first printed in 1625. It was reprinted in both 1647 and 1657 (or later), with the most important changes to the cityscape added. As this print includes the new City Hall on Dam square (built between 1648 and 1665), and 's Lands Zeemagazijn (built between 1655 and 1656), it seems quite certain that this is the 1657 reprint. The date shown in the box on the right-hand side is ↀ ⅮC XLVII (1647), however. As the part with 's Lands Zeemagazijn (lower left corner) seems a later addition, it could well be that the 1657 reprint only corrected small parts of the map, thus leaving the 1647 date intact.
