Illustrated in John Graham Dalyell (1847-1848) "Rare and remarkable animals of Scotland, represented from living subjects; with practical observations on their nature" volume 2, plate XLV.

The legend says "Actinia Mesembryanthemum; Survived 20 years in Captivity; Produced 334 Young".
