The late 14th Century Beauchamp Tomb at Worcester Cathedral. There has been much dispute about whether the effigies are of Sir John de Beauchamp, 1st Baron Beauchamp of Kidderminster (1339-1388) of Holt Castle in Worcestershire and his wife Joan FitzWith, or of Sir John Beauchamp of Powick and his wife Elizabeth. Sir John Beauchamp of Holt was the Seneschal of King Richard II, who knighted him and also made him a Baron. However, various lords wished to reduce the influence of the King's favourites and in 1388 the so-called 'Merciless Parliament attainted Beauchamp and others of the King's Household of high treason and executed them.
