DescriptionBlackburn Point Bridge viewed from boat.jpg
The Blackburn Point Bridge, in Florida, is a swing bridge that is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1926. (Photographer's caption on Flickr: Janet and I took two German guests on a cruise of the Intracoastal Waterway during a Friendship Force exchange in 1989. We went on the "Bay Lady," which made a round trip from Nokomis to Venice. The cruise began (and ended) near the Blackburn Point Bridge, which carries Blackburn Point Road from the Florida mainland (right) to Casey Key (left), a barrier island. The bridge is a one-lane swing bridge, which pivots on the center "island".)
