Summary
| Description |
Bologna trolleybus 1065, a 2010 Solaris Trollino 18, in service on route 14. It was westbound on Via della Barca, on the route's western half, to Piazza San Giovanni XXIII, only two stops before the end of the line, but evidently the driver had already changed the destination sign to display the eastbound signage – to Via Massarenti and Due Madonne, designated service 14A. Normally, all trolleybuses westbound at this location, displaying proper westbound signage (to Piazza San Giovanni XXIII), show only "14" as the route designation (without any letter suffix), because services 14A, 14B and 14C are identical west of the city centre and differ only on their easternmost sections. This part of route 14, the western portion, was served by trolleybuses of the previous Bologna trolleybus system until 1982, as route 43, which was the last route of the previous system to close. The terminus that is now known as Piazza San Giovanni XXIII was known as Barca (the name of the neighbourhood) in the earlier system. Trolleybuses returned to the Barca route 30 years later, in 2012. |
