Purpose of use

To illustrate an extremely poignant scene in the episode:

  • As mentioned before, this was the first time in the mockumentary's 9 year run that the mysterious crew has been shown. Many critics reacted to the reveal. Jason Hughes of the Huffington Post called the moment "huge", Michael Tedder of Vulture called the scene "something that we've never seen before on The Office." This is further expanded upon in the "Reception" section of the parent article.
  • Furthermore, the image is important in a visual sense. Because the reveal of the camera crew had never happened on the show, this scene is extremely important to the series. Due to the fact that The Office is a television show, this visual aid is extremely important in conveying the sense of the scene. Removal of the image would render the textual explanation insufficient.
