For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-Thomas Uhlemann/ 10.9.90-Bez. Magdeburg: Brockenbahn- Am 12.8.1961 fuhr der letzte Zug der 1000 mm Schmalspurbahn die insgesamt 19 km lange Strecke von Drei Annen Hohne über Schierke hinauf zum Brocken. Danach konnten Harzreisende nur noch bis Schierke fahren, die restliche Strecke wurde zum Grenzgebiet, die Gleise wurden gesperrt. Nachdem der Brocken wieder besucht werden kann, ist auch die Frage nach der vollständigen Streckenführung der Brockenbahn wieder aktuell. Allerdings sind die noch stillgelegten 13,6 km zwischen Goetheweg und Gipfel - die hier durch unberührte Natur führen - so defekt, das sie erst einer gründlichen Rekonstruierung bedürfen. Die Diskussion zwischen Naturschützern und Eisenbahnfreunden hält an. Immerhin besuchen an manchen Tagen bis zu 25000 Besucher den Brocken. |
