For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Mellahn We-Noa 15.4.1959 Erstes Fahrgastschiff aus arktischen Gewässern zurück. Das auf der Wismarer Mathias-Thesen-Werft gebaute Seefahrgastschiff "Michail Kalinin" hat als erstes Fahrgastschiff in der Geschichte der Seefahrt die Anarktis erreicht. An Bord befanden sich sowjetische Wissenschaftler, die die Besatzungen antarktischer Forschungsstationen ablösten, sowie eine Gruppe polnischer Gelehrter. Die Werktätigen dieser weltgrößten Hochseewerft der DDR werden bis 1965 insgesamt 22 Seefahrgastschiffe für die Sowjetunion bauen. UBz: Nach großer Fahrt liegt die "Michail Kalinin" jetzt zur vertraglich vereinbarten Durchsicht im Wismarer Werfthafen." |
