Zentralbild Kluge Sche 17.8.1968 Leipzig: Deutsche Meisterschaften der DDR im Sportschwimmen-Europarekord durch Sigrid Goral Nach mehreren Rekordleistungen im bisherigen Verlauf der Meisterschaften fiel nun auch der erste Europarekord. Am 16.8.68 unterbot die 16jährige Sigrid Goral vom SC Empor Rostock über 8 00 Meter Freistil die alte Höchstleistung der in den USA studierenden und trainierenden Schwedin Elisabeth Morris-Ljung-gran um 1,5 Sekunden auf 9:43,5 Minuten. Schon nach 100 Metern (1:08 Minuten) wendete die Rostockerin als Erste. Dann kraulte sie, gleichmäßig wie ein Uhrwerk, die folgenden 100 Meter jeweils in 1:14 Minuten, um sich am Schluß noch einmal zu steigern. Die Siegerin selbst kommentierte ihren Europarekord, mit dem sie sich um 15,1 Sekunde verbesserte und den DDR-Rekord um 14,5 Sekunden unterbot: "Es war unheimlich schwer, das hohe Anfangstempo durchzuhalten. Nun bin ich glücklich, daß ich es geschafft habe." |
