English: Caerlaverock Church of Scotland The parish church nestles between Byers Farm and a tributary of the Lochar Water, a little way north of the village of Bankend. It dates from 1781, but the piend-roofed porches were added by James Barbour in 1894 when he reroofed the body of the kirk.
