Summary

Description

At this time of joyous celebration with family and loved ones, please hold close in your thoughts and prayers the heroic men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the very freedom which occasions your celebration.

It would be a great gesture of respect and honor, particularly for the families, friends and fellow troops of these fallen heroes who might view their photos on Flickr, if fellow Americans could take a moment to view photos/profiles of them and, if so moved, leave any expressions. And please be encouraged to invite family and friends to likewise take just a few minutes now and then for a brief visit to pay respect and honor to our fallen heroes. Gone/ But Never Forgotten is the Flickr group dedicated to them (thank you, Verbatim2006) - "They owe us nothing. We owe them everything." God Bless America

IN FLANDERS FIELDS By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.
