English: Carol Greider (in red) and Elizabeth Blackburn. Carol Greider is a molecular biologist who discovered the enzyme telomerase in 1984 while working with Elizabeth Blackburn. Elizabeth (Liz) Helen Blackburn FRS (born November 26, 1948 in Hobart, Tasmania) is an Australian-born U.S. biologist at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), who studies the telomere.
