Description
Français : Ch. Laval (1808-1880) Avec le père Caret et le frère Murphy, il arrive aux Gambier en 1834. Quatre ans plus tard la conversion était achevée et commença alors un formidable programme de construction accompagné de l’institution d’un Code mangarévien très sévère. On utilisa souvent , à tort,le terme de « théocratie » pour le système que Laval avait mis en place à Mangareva.
