Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) The Hits (radio station)
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) To serve as the means of visual identification for the article dedicated to The Hits, and to illustrate how The Hits has changed over time. This logo was used by Classic Hits for 19 years, and for most of that time Classic Hits has had the broadest reach of any radio network in the country. This particular logo was the logo most people recognised the brand as. The logo is described in the article. There was a national variation of this logo that originally had the text "FM" to describe the brand from a national point of view. The national logo changed in 1998 to contain the word "Classic Hits" inside the green diamond with the red banner left blank, the regional logo remained the same.
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
It is a non-free logo, there is almost certainly no free representation. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary As this is a logo is not as easy to reproduce from scratch. This particular logo was distributed in the form of a car bumper sticker with the intention of being displayed to the public.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) The image will be used in the history section of The Hits, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, provide critical commentary about the logo and the organization during the period it was used (1992-2011), and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. The image will be used only on the article The Hits (New Zealand) to describe the radio network's previous brand name.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
The entire logo is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image. This is has not been modified in any way so will not intentionally harm the business written about in this article.
Other information As this is a logo it would be hard to find any other form of replacement. The image is of low resolution.
