Summary

Description
English: A crystalline material is composed of hierarchal structures that can be arranged by length scale and complexity. Using acetaminophen as an example, features of the molecular structure direct the types of strengths of intermolecular interactions that can form. Crystal architectural features, such as slip planes or columns, may result from the intermolecular interaction networks. The bulk properties of a crystalline material are influenced by the crystal structure features, which determines the possible molecular movements within the material in response to an applied stress.
