Description
English: An early variant of the Ensign of the Continental Navy and National Flag as described by Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams in a letter dated October 9, 1778 addressed to the King of the Two Sicilies as reported in Grace Rogers Cooper's Thirteen Star Flags: Keys to Identification (Smithsonian Institution Press, 1973: pg. 3). Proportions of flag elements and number of points on star are approximate.
