Ritón de plata, parcialmente dorado, fue descubierto casualmente en Poroina Mare (Rumanía) en 1883. Es un objeto similar a otras piezas descubiertas en Panaghiurişte (Bulgaria), que datan de los siglos IV-III a.C. Este tipo de pieza tiene su origen en el arte hitita de los siglos XIV-XIII a. C. y estuvo muy extendido en el mundo persa, asumido y encontrado con frecuencia más tarde en el mundo griego, ya en el siglo V a. C. El rhyton de Poroina Mare es un producto local, elaborado en una forma de arte tracio-gético bajo influencias griegas y escitas.
